50. Marshall Thundering Heard — Conference-USA
2 of 51
You may know them mostly from the popular film, "We Are Marshall." Now however, these guys are giving themselves a whole new name with these very cool jerseys. The dark green with white lining gives them a simple, yet unique look.
49. Long Beach State 49ers — Big West
3 of 51
Ignore the Kentucky player about to dunk over them, these Long Beach State Niners are looking a whole lot better than Kentucky is right there. With the black, yellow, and white going uniform, these athletes are the Pittsburgh Steelers of college basketball, and they are looking very fashionable.
48. Minnesota Golden Gophers — Big Ten
4 of 51
It's a really gutsy mixture, I'll give them that. This dark red, light brown, painted wood color isn't too common in division one. However, the bland colors kind of make me think of Minnesota, and I really like how it works with the bright yellow lettering.
47. Weber State Wildcats — Big Sky
5 of 51
Weber State is all about the purple, and going with the black letters is a sick combination. Heck, you don't want to mess with these guys. They aren't playing too shabby either, at 6-5.
46. Bowling Green Falcons — Mid-American
6 of 51
As this Michigan State Spartans player is trapped between the two defenders from Bowling Green, he probably is a little distracted thinking about the awesome black patterns under the sleeves of the defender combined with the Princeton Orange, and how that really works in this day in age for college basketball. This Spartans player probably regrets his choice to not play at Bowling Green.
45. Morehead State Eagles — Ohio Valley
7 of 51
This Louisville player is probably going to be blocked. That is likely due to the fact that he is distracted by the gold lettering on the dark blue jerseys of Morehead State, which makes for a very interesting, yet satisfying combination.
44. Oakland Golden Grizzlies — Summit League
8 of 51
These Grizzlies are having a great season so far, having upset SEC member Tennessee. With any luck they will be able to show off the gold and black on national television come March Madness.
43. Florida International Golden Panthers — Sun Belt
9 of 51
What Isiah Thomas probably didn't mention before taking the coaching job with the Golden Panthers was that he secretly was hoping to do terribly with coaching the New York Knicks so that maybe one day he would have a chance to coach with some of the most unique jerseys in all of college basketball. Well maybe that isn't true. However, what is true is that these uniforms are one of a kind. The dark blue and gold trim is very representative of the state of Florida. It's certainly not something you see every day...unless you're Isiah Thomas.
42. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets — ACC
10 of 51
It's a little weird to call them the Yellow Jackets, but this faded gold color is unique and chic. The Jackets however, haven't been stinging too many opponents, as they sit at a mere 6-4 despite playing in the ACC.
41. Prairie View A&M Panthers — SWAC
11 of 51
This player stuck in the middle of all the Prairie View A&M players doesn't mind that he is about to lose the ball. He is more focused on the one-of-a-kind look of the bold dark purple uniforms, that are mixed with that of the light brown, faded gold, lettering on the uniforms. Not a bad look.
40. Mercer Bears — Atlantic Sun
12 of 51
Their jerseys are very Princetonesque, but they use more black, which helps bring out the orange lining, and creates a very cool coloring sequence.
39. Saint Louis Billikens — Atlantic-10
13 of 51
Saint Louis may not be living up to the hype on the court, but they are doing fine with the jerseys. They use a simple, All-Blue look, similar to that of Duke, yet has a slightly different shade than that of their foes from Tobacco Road.
38. DePaul Blue Demons — Big East
14 of 51
The DePaul Blue Demons have been widely regarded as the worst team in the Big East the past few seasons. They continue to struggle this year, and so maybe that is why you, the fan, haven't gotten the chance to take a look at the oddly made jersey that makes up the blue demon ensemble. They have an interesting blue and white pattern along the side that isn't seen much in college basketball.
37. Creighton Bluejays — Missouri Valley
15 of 51
They are the Bluejays, so it's probably not too hard to guess what color they sport. Blue and white. Simplicity is key to this jersey, and they do that magnificently.
36. Oklahoma State Cowboys — Big 12
16 of 51
For years, I have always been a big fan of the Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State rivalry. However, I have always secretly been a fan of the Cowboys for one reason, and one reason only. The bold orange. It's not quite Longhorn orange, or Syracuse orange, but it's Cowboy orange. They should trademark it. The team is pretty good as well at 11-1.
35. Virginia Commonwealth Rams — Colonial
17 of 51
The colors here probably were pretty foreign to the average college fan before their huge upset over Duke in the first round of the NCAA tournament a few years ago. Now however, VCU has dominated the mid-major scene, and they have done it stylishly. Repping the black and yellow, you might think they could be the background dancers for Wiz Khalifa. However, they are doing just fine in the spotlight themselves having upset Wake Forest and taking down UCLA at Madison Square Garden (pictured here).
34. California Golden Bears — Pacific-10
18 of 51
There aren't too many teams that like to use yellow for their home uniforms, but too many teams aren't Cal. Just like the Lakers do in SoCal, the Golden Bears have taken to in the Bay Area, sporting a spicy mixture of dark blue and bright yellow, which is not too common in the college game. And we should applaud the effort.
33. Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks — Southland
19 of 51
Disregard the fact that they are watching as a Syracuse player stuffs the rock in the rim as these lumberjacks probably don't hold a candle to the Orange on the basketball court. However, the dark purple mixed with the odd white pattern on the inner-leg part of the shorts gives this uniform a very interesting look.
32. Iowa Hawkeyes — Big Ten
20 of 51
Although they may not be the most talented team on the court on any given night, the there is a good chance that they might be the better dressed team. The Hawkeyes of Iowa are going bold with the bright yellow, and the midnight black, and I personally love it.
31. Davidson Wildcats — Southern Conference
21 of 51
Davidson may be known for their great run to the elite eight with the famed Stephen Curry. Now, in 2010, their talent level isn't the same. Yet, they still wear the same jerseys. The black and red road uniforms give the team an intimidating look that might help these Wildcats claw their way back to national prominence.
30. Holy Cross Crusaders — Patriot
22 of 51
These Crusaders are ushering in a new era of awesome. Although many college basketball fans have probably never heard of this small Patriot League school, they sure do catch the eye of any of the few who have. The all purple look is similar to that of a few other schools, but they also use a white lining on the sides, which is very intriguing.
29. Norfolk State Spartans — MEAC
23 of 51
I love the bright yellow, with the puke green. It's bold, it makes a statement, which is important because the Spartans play on the basketball court sure hasn't.
28. Long Island Blackbirds — Northeast Conference
24 of 51
The Long Island Blackbirds have been swooping over the competition this year, and they have done it with their unique black and white mixture. Sporting no secondary colors on their uni's they are one of a kind in the NCAA, and it would be great to see the blackbirds back in the NCAA tournament this season.
27. Seton Hall Pirates — Big East
25 of 51
The Seton Hall Pirates have sure been ugly off the court with lawsuits, firings, and even some legal troubles. But on the court, they are looking Royally blue... in a good way. Seton Hall hopes to have a good Big East season so that the whole country can take a look at their jerseys come March Madness.
26. Virginia Cavaliers — ACC
26 of 51
The Virginia Cavaliers have a somewhat cluttered look on the uniform with the burnt orange, dark blue, and white. Yet, they have a method to the madness that makes them a joy to watch play.
25. Siena Saints — MAAC
27 of 51
Kinda the opposite of Norfolk state, the bright yellow is secondary to the puke green. I love to see originality in uniforms, it's what the college look is all about.
24. San Francisco Dons — WCC
28 of 51
Similar to that of Siena, the Dons of San Francisco use a more bold yellow, and a more dark green to really bring out the boldness of the colors. They looked great in their win over nationally ranked Gonzaga last season.
23. San Diego St. Aztecs — Mountain West
29 of 51
Although they are ranked seventh in the country right now, their basketball isn't the only thing that the Aztecs are showing off. The all black uni's a similar to that of the New Zealand Rugby team except for the sliver of red that makes them one of a kind.
22. Hofstra Pride — Colonial
30 of 51
This is a Hofstra players standing with head coach Tom Pecora. Recently, Tom Pecora left Hofstra to coach at Fordham. One thing is for sure, Pecora didn't leave because of the uniforms. This classic jersey is very standard for college, however very unique with the royal blue being offset by the yellow seams. There is no way that Pecora left Hempstead, Long Island because of these beauties.
21. TCU Horned Frogs — Mountain West
31 of 51
TCU is going to be the newest member of the Big East Conference, and that probably had a lot to do with the purple. Think about it, most major conferences have at least one purple oriented team whether it be Northwestern in the Big 10 or Washington in the Pac-10.
20. Brown Bears — Ivy League
32 of 51
The Brown Bears jersey is very Ivy League. They are representing the school with the color, and it is very preppy, but also bold, which is good for college. Brown is having a decent season this year, and should be in the hunt for March Madness come springtime.
19. Clemson Tigers — ACC
33 of 51
The bold orange is a great color for college, especially this dark shade version. They also mix in a little purple, which takes it to the next level. It is 100 percent unique. A full gym wearing the orange is quite a sight to see. Just seeing them takes you to a sunny South Carolina.
18. Northern Iowa Panthers — Missouri Valley
34 of 51
This purple may make them look ditzy, and that's probably why Kansas took them a little too lightly in the NCAA tournament last year. That's the power of dark purple with some bright yellow, you don't look too scary, but just might very well be.
17. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors — WAC
35 of 51
Hawaii is known for its beautiful islands, and its overall stunning surroundings. And it doesn't end with the setting. No, the basketball team contributes to the beauty of this tropical state with their own tropical look. The dark green, coupled with the black, and white, puts a Hawaiian touch to their basketball team. They aren't playing too bad either at 7-3.
16. Columbia Lions — Ivy League
36 of 51
You may recognize these colors from the more basketball-popular UNC Tar Heels. However, this light blue is vintage Columbia and a rarity in Division 1. It may not look so tough on these Ivy Leaguers, but the Lions have played strong so far, currently sitting at 6-4.
15. Butler Bulldogs — Horizon League
37 of 51
I have to admit, I love the black uniforms in college basketball. Even though black uniforms are mostly a college-type thing, it really comes off as very retro, and very powerful. Butler really represented them well last year in their run to the championship game, and although they aren't living up to the hype again this season yet, the uniforms are still as cool as ever.
14. East Carolina Pirates — Conference-USA
38 of 51
The East Carolina Pirates are similar to that of Northern Iowa except they use more of a gold look, which probably represents the booty that these ECU Pirates stole. Was that a clever joke? Probably not. But that doesn't matter.
13. Oregon State Beavers — Pacific-10
39 of 51
The player in this photo, Calvin Haynes, may not be too happy. But at least he looks cool. This Oregon State senior may be working his butt off for the lowly 5-6 Beavers, and no matter how bad their team is, we can always count on one thing, a fashionable loss. Bold colors mixed with black is a great mélanger as the French say, and this Longhorn orange is no exception.
12. Bucknell Bison — Patriot League
40 of 51
Despite being a tiny school in eastern Pennsylvania, the Bison of Bucknell are making national news as being one of the best dressed teams in America. The bright orange, with the dark blue lettering makes makes the competition blind with such a bold color scheme.
11. Tennessee Volunteers — SEC
41 of 51
The Vols had been having a great season up until last week. They represent a whole new type of orange unique from the rest of the NCAA, and they sport it louder than most teams, as you can see here, it is a head-to-toe ensemble.
10. Providence Friars — Big East
42 of 51
This is probably the only list that the Friars would break the top 10 in. But I guess that'll just have to do. The black, gray, and white look kind of takes you back to the old timer movies, which is a great contrast to their high-tempo offense.
9. Oregon Ducks — Pacific-10
43 of 51
The Ducks are known to mix up their uniforms. Sometimes its the yellow, sometimes dark green, sometimes white, sometimes light green. They keep you guessing, I like that about this team.
8. Baylor Bears — Big 12
44 of 51
Baylor's colors really represent their location and name of the school. The dark green with bright yellow really keeps it real, and nothing is more real than the heart of Texas. A jersey with personality is crucial.
7. UMBC Retrievers — America East
45 of 51
UMBC may possibly be the worst team in Division 1 athletics. They are currently 0-12, and have not really come close to winning a basketball game, two years removed from an NCAA tourney run. So for Christmas, they are the number seven best dressed NCAA D1 basketball team. And they deserve it too. The yellow lettering and lining, with the black as the primary color make Retrievers even look tough. So lets hope they can get some wins.
6. LSU Tigers — SEC
46 of 51
I love it when a team has all purple as their primary color, or all yellow. LSU has both. They don't mix in much white either which really brings out these two, and makes them quite a sight to behold even if they aren't a great basketball team.
5. UCLA Bruins — Pacific-10
47 of 51
This light blue is unique, not too light to be North Carolina, but not too dark to be Duke. It is very vintage UCLA, and is just as much part of the program is their name, the Bruins. That is important for any division one program. UCLA isn't having the best season, but will be right there playing for the NCAA tournament come March.
4. Duke Blue Devils — ACC
48 of 51
The Duke Blue Devils, are looking devilishly blue, while using a secondary black color. Their high powered offense is a nice compliment to their high powered sense of fashion. The Blue Devils may be number one in the NCAA Basketball rankings, but still have some work to do to make number one on this list.
3. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers — Big South
49 of 51
You may not know about the Chanticleers, or even what a Chanticleer is. In case you were wondering, it is a name given to a rooster during fairy tails. That really isn't of importance though. Neither is the impressive 10-2 record that these guys from South Carolina boast. What does matter is that awesome shade of green that almost takes you to the sand of Myrtle Beach, which is located right next to the CC campus. The surrounding black also really brings out the green and minimal white on the uniform.
2. Northwestern Wildcats — Big Ten
50 of 51
The Northwestern Wildcats have really stepped it up this year, holding an 8-1 record, and are looking to get to the NCAA tournament for the first time ever. Maybe their resurgence is starting to make their jerseys look a little more intimidating, as the all purple and black look, with white lettering has become a representative of their arrival to greatness. Hopefully they will be showing the purple in March for the first time ever in 2011.
1. Syracuse Orange — Big East
51 of 51
It really doesn't take much explaining. They are the "Orange", they wear the color like no other, and win with it like no other. The orange is what defines this program, and they represent it well. Year in and year out, Syracuse is up there with the best in the country. It's important for a jersey and its colors to have some meaning, some importance, some history, and you see that on players of Syracuse University.
