Tim Tebow: Will Denver's Next Coach Be Good For Him?

Tom EdringtonDec 21, 2010

Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos are in the market for a new coach.

Tebow, who started last week in the loss at Oakland, will start the Broncos final two games, both at home.

While the focus is on those two games, now is the time to ponder who might become the next Bronco head coach and inherit Tebow, the 2010 first round draft pick.

It's also time to consider who might be good for Denver and good for Tebow.

Here's a name Denver took a look at, although it might have been a Rooney Rule interview, he was the one the Broncos let get awayRaheem Morris.

Morris has done incredible work getting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to an 8-6 record when most pundits who like to make predictions had the Bucs as a seven-win team at best, most, including Sports Illustrated's Peter King, had the Pewter Pirates laying a giant egg this season. King predicted a 2-14 season for Morris and his young team.

The Buccaneer owners, the Glazer family, has not given Morris a contract extension.

If not Morris, there's that fellow at StanfordJim Harbaugh.

Would it be a reach to hire Harbaugh? You know he can develop young talent at quarterback and perhaps he could put some polish on Tebow's passing game.

The only knock on Tebow is his throwing motion and after his performance last week and a 100 quarterback rating, Tebow showed he has made progress given the limited playbook he had to work with.

If not Harbaugh, then perhaps a hot offensive coordinator.

Jerry Jones hasn't made a decision if the "interim" stays on Cowboys coach Jason Garrett. If Jones is making eyes at Jon Gruden, then why wouldn't Denver consider Garrett?

Any of those three would be good if not great for Tebow.

Morris' young players love him in Tampa, which is probably why the Bucs will surely give him a nice extension.

Is Harbaugh ready for the NFL? He couldn't be worse than Josh McDaniel, could he?

As for Garrett, you have to like the way the Cowboys have looked since Wade Phillips was shown the door.

Three young guys, three who would fit in Denver.

Three who would be much better than some re-cycled guy that's waiting in a television booth somewhere.
