Orlando Magic: Which Would Be Better, Chris Paul or Carmelo Anthony?

Brett David RobertsNov 29, 2010

With the news breaking from Brian Schmitz that the Magic are entering serious trade talks, Magic fans are left to wonder which alternative would benefit the Magic most.

Chris Paul or Carmelo Anthony?

Both bring different packages to the table and both would make the Magic a better team, but which would give the Magic the best shot at winning an NBA title?

Would the Magic be better of with a prime-time scorer, a player that led the Olympic "Redeem Team" in scoring?  Or would they be better off with a prime-time playmaker, someone that can get Howard even better looks and open up passing lanes with his penetration?

Certainly, both Paul and Anthony bring different positives to a team.  But it remains a matter of speculation as to which would make the Magic a better team.

If they obtained Paul and lost Vince Carter, they would be without an isolation specialist for the end of quarters and games.  Although, would that really be necessary when they could run a 1-5 pick and roll?

If they obtained Anthony, they would still be left with Nelson running the team.  Can the Magic win a championship with an undersized shoot-first point guard like Nelson?  Each decision has its detriments, too, as you can see.
