NFL Power Rankings Week 12: How High Is Bills WR Steve Johnson After 3 TDs?
Another NFL week has gone by, and teams are positioning themselves to make a run at the NFL playoffs.
Teams will be battling it out on the ground and in the air to win games and move a step closer towards getting a playoff berth and competing for the Super Bowl.
You can bet that teams are going to be passing the ball a lot in these next few weeks, and that means that the guys listed on these rankings are going to start having some pretty big games.
There have been several changes in this week’s power rankings when compared to last week’s. Let’s take a look and see who the top 32 wide receivers in the NFL are after Week 11 and where they rank heading into Week 12.
32. Nate Washington, Tennessee Titans
1 of 33
Last Week: Unranked
Washington is quietly having a solid season with the Titans and may see more passes thrown his way even with Randy Moss there.
With Kerry Collins staying at quarterback, you can be assured that the passing game will flourish and Washington will build on his numbers.
31. Mario Manningham, New York Giants
2 of 33
Last Week: 31st
Manningham’s numbers should increase a lot with both Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks out for a little while.
If he can produce (and get the ball from quarterback Eli Manning without any problem) then he should move up the rankings next week.
30. Austin Collie, Indianapolis Colts
3 of 33
Last Week: 29th
Collie is hanging by a thread this week, as the Colts are saying that he won’t play next week.
Will they end up shutting him down for the rest of the season if he can’t make it back soon? Is this the last week he will be in these rankings?
29. Malcom Floyd, San Diego Chargers
4 of 33
Last Week: 30th
Floyd moves up a spot in this week’s rankings after having a nice game with a touchdown despite the fact he didn’t get too many yards through the air.
Floyd has been very reliable but may see his catches decrease when Vincent Jackson makes it back this coming Sunday.
28. Wes Welker, New England Patriots
5 of 33
Last Week: Unranked
Welker is a first timer to these rankings, and he can be considered a huge asset to the Patriots. He’s finally starting to have a “Wes Welker”-type season.
27. Mike Thomas, Jacksonville Jaguars
6 of 33
Last Week: Unranked
For the first time this season, we have someone from the Jacksonville Jaguars in our rankings. The Jags' passing offense is ever-improving, and Thomas is having the kind of season the team hoped that he would when they drafted him.
26. Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys
7 of 33
Last Week: 23rd
Bryant is seeing his role in the Cowboys’ offense increase, and he’s going to be making a much bigger impact on offense as the season goes on.
With a strong end to the season, he could be considered a candidate for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
25. Chad Ochocinco, Cincinnati Bengals
8 of 33
Last Week: 27th
If you looked at the passing stats for the Bengals, you would swear that they were a much better team than they actually are.
Both Terrell Owens and Ochocinco are a big part of their success through the air but just can’t seem to open the door to winning games this season.
24. Jabar Gaffney, Denver Broncos
9 of 33
Last Week: 21st
Gaffney and the other Broncos wide receivers are getting a lot of passes thrown their way and are catching balls, but they just aren’t doing much to get the Broncos in the win column. Can they help turn things around before the season is over?
23. Mike Williams, Seattle Seahawks
10 of 33
Last Week: 26th
Williams continues to resurrect his career with the Seahawks and is racking up some pretty nice yardage in the passing game there in Seattle. It’s just too bad that he’s not scoring touchdowns.
22. Percy Harvin, Minnesota Vikings
11 of 33
Last Week: 19th
Despite all of the problems that the Vikings are having now, Harvin remains a steady option for their passing game and can really create after the catch.
Perhaps once things settle down (probably next season) Harvin will be able to live up to his potential.
21. Braylon Edwards, New York Jets
12 of 33
Last Week: 28th
Edwards gets to move up a little bit thanks to a decent game this past Sunday.
While Edwards may not live up to the expectations everyone had for him when he came into the NFL, he’s been a nice fit with the Jets and a big help on their offense.
20. Brandon Marshall, Miami Dolphins
13 of 33
Last Week: 16th
Marshall didn’t have a good game against the Bears on Thursday night and missed part of it with an injury. With all of the quarterback problems in Miami, Marshall may see himself fall out of these rankings before too long.
19. Marques Colston, New Orleans Saints
14 of 33
Last Week: 22nd
As the Saints' passing game continues to improve, Colston continues to see more catches and more yards.
This big target has become an invaluable asset to the Saints, and he will be an important part of their ability to get back to the playoffs at the end of this season.
18. Mike Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
15 of 33
Last Week: 14th
Williams continues to be a force in Tampa with his pass-catching ability, but he has fallen on some hard times off the field and could be facing a suspension. Will Williams be able to overcome his off the field problems and be solid on the football field?
17. Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals
16 of 33
Last Week: 18th
Fitzgerald is starting to see some more action catching the ball with the Cardinals this season, but he is still struggling thanks to the struggles at the quarterback position in Arizona.
Hopefully Arizona finds a solid quarterback next season—one that will take advantage of Fitzgerald’s talents.
16. Johnny Knox, Chicago Bears
17 of 33
Last Week: 15th
If you wanted to make a list of reliable NFL wide receivers, you might want to start it off with Johnny Knox.
Knox and his quarterback, Jay Cutler, have been hooking up for some critical passes, and Knox always seems to be there when the ball comes his way and never drops a pass.
15. Santana Moss, Washington Redskins
18 of 33
Last Week: 24th
In the past, quarterback Donovan McNabb has had a favorite target to throw the ball to. In Washington, his new favorite target is Moss. Moss is productive and a reliable target for the Redskins.
14. DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles
19 of 33
Last Week: 10th
Eagles wide receivers are having a great season thanks to Michael Vick, and despite missing a little time due to a concussion, Jackson is having a pretty good season and is one of the most dangerous receivers in the NFL.
13. Anquan Boldin, Baltimore Ravens
20 of 33
Last Week: Ninth
Boldin continues to be the star in the Ravens' passing game and is showing his value week in and week out. Without Boldin, the Ravens might not be where they are today (winning games).
12. Miles Austin, Dallas Cowboys
21 of 33
Last Week: Eighth
Austin is experiencing a little bit of a resurgence here towards the end of the season as the Cowboys offense starts to look better after a change in head coaches. Hopefully he can continue having success.
11. Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles
22 of 33
Last Week: 12th
Maclin is having a great season with quarterback Michael Vick at the helm and has become a factor in his second season in the NFL. Give him one more season and he could be one of the NFL’s very best.
10. Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers
23 of 33
Last Week: 13th
The injury to Jermichael Finley has opened the door wide enough to let Jennings in and allow him to be the star receiver on this team. He’s had a great year again and is one of the best at his position.
9. Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs
24 of 33
Last Week: 17th
All this guy does is catch touchdowns; he is leading the league in receiving touchdowns heading into the next week.
After having been called an underachiever his entire career in the NFL, is this Bowe’s breakout season?
8. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
25 of 33
Last Week: Seventh
Johnson may not be scoring a lot of touchdowns, but he’s helping the Texans move the ball through the air and is one of the most reliable receivers in the NFL at this time. It’s just too bad his team isn’t winning more.
7. Steve Johnson, Buffalo Bills
26 of 33
Last Week: 20th
Johnson jumps up quite a bit this week after a nice game this Sunday against the Bengals.
Johnson has been a nice surprise for the Bills this year and could end up being a part of the AFC Pro Bowl squad this season.
6. Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts
27 of 33
Last Week: Sixth
Wayne has become the most valuable wide receiver for his quarterback, Peyton Manning, this season.
While he may not be the scoring threat that he has been in the past, Wayne is as dangerous as they come and can help keep the Colts in games thanks to his sure hands and route-running ability.
5. Brandon Lloyd, Denver Broncos
28 of 33
Last Week: Third
Lloyd drops a little bit this week thanks to some of the talented players ahead of him stepping up a little bit, but he is still a very productive receiver in an offense that is quietly one of the more productive in football.
4. Mike Wallace, Pittsburgh Steelers
29 of 33
Last Week: 11th
Wallace continues to impress many this season and has become the most important part of the Steelers' passing offense outside of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. This guy has Pro Bowl written all over him.
3. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
30 of 33
Last Week: Fourth
Johnson stays close to the top of the rankings this week after having a nice game this Sunday.
Johnson hasn’t suffered much despite the fact that his starting quarterback is out for the rest of the season. Could he keep playing well enough to make a Pro Bowl this season?
2. Terrell Owens, Cincinnati Bengals
31 of 33
Last Week: Fifth
There might be some heavy objection to this, but Owens is a very valuable part of the Bengals offense.
Despite the fact that the Bengals are losing on a regular basis, Owens is one of the more valuable wide receivers in the NFL right now.
1. Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons
32 of 33
Last Week: First
Guess who is on top of the rankings again? Yes, it’s Roddy White, the guy who is clearly the best wide receiver in the NFL this season, and what a year he is having.
He’s definitely Pro Bowl material and could be seeing himself on the All-Pro team before it’s all said and done.
