
2010 College Hoops Early Stats Leaders: Is There Any Way They Can Keep This Up?
Early season stats can be a little crazy, with scoring that is out-of-this-world; rebounding that is ridiculous; and shooting percentages that can't be sustained.
It's doubtful that these will be the players who are leading each of these categories at the end of the season.
Not too many household names here, but the following are the early Division I Men's Basketball statistical leaders.
Rebounding: Chris Gaston Fordham

Chris Gaston: 6'7", 225 lbs
Forward: Fordham
Gaston is currently leading the nation in rebounding, pulling down 16 rebounds per game.
He has twice pulled down 17, against Brown and against Sacred Heart.
He's got the glass!
Blocks: Jamelle Hagins

Jamelle Hagins: 6'8", 220 lbs
Forward: Delaware
Nobody is blocking more shots than Hagins, who is already swatting five shots per game.
He blocked six shots against both Cornell and Howard.
Get that stuff outta here!
Steals: Byron Mulkey

Byron Mulkey: 6'0", 175 lbs
Guard: Buffalo
Mulkey is currently leading the nation in steals, with 17 picks in his first three games.
He had seven steals in Buffalo's opening game against Navy.
Watch your pockets, everyone!
Assists: Joey Rodriguez

Guard: Virginia Commonwealth
Rodriguez is currently leading the nation in assists, handing out 10.3 per game
He had 17 assists in VCU's opening game against UNC Greensboro.

Free Throw Percentage: Xavier Silas

Guard: Northern Illinois
Silas has made all of his 18 free throw attempts.
He went 12-of-12 in the Huskies opening game against Northwestern
Don't foul him. He'll make you pay!
Three-Point Shooting: Nate Wolters

Nate Wolters: 6'3", 189 lbs
Guard: South Dakota State
So far this season, Wolters is perfect from downtown: 8-for-8.
He was a perfect 3-for-3 when SDSU beat Iowa in Iowa City.
He can shoot the lights out!
Field Goal Percentage: Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski: 6'10", 256 lbs
Forward: Texas Tech
Lewandowski has made 17 of his 19 shots from the floor.
He made all nine of his field goal attempts (and both of his free throws) against Stephen F Austin.
A big guy with a nice touch!
Scoring: Kemba Walker

Guard: Connecticut
Regardless of what level, Kemba Walker is on the top of the most popular stat—leading Scorer
Walker is averaging an eye-popping 30 points per game after dropping 42 on Vermont.
