Raptors Vs Wizards Box Score Boxing November 16th 2010
Sonny Weems was solid yet again and finished the night with 16 points, three rebounds, two assists and two three-pointers. He is emerging as the Raptors most efficient wing option and needs to stay in the starting lineup.
Linas Kleiza had a solid game finishing with 15 points and five rebounds on .636% shooting. It is refreshing to see that he has reined in his three-point shot and is looking for high percentage buckets.
Jarrett Jack had a solid game with 13 points, five assists and two steals. The best thing...ZERO turnovers.
Jose Calderon struggled with his shot and finished with three points and two assists on .125% shooting in 18 minutes.
Amir Johnson had six points and five rebounds but only played 18 minutes despite accruing zero fouls on the night.
Reggie Evans had a solid game and racked up four assists and nine rebounds for the Raptors. He added three steals and continues to get it done for the Raptors night in and night out showing his versatility in last night's loss.
Andrea Bargnani had yet another poor shooting night and finished with 12 points on 3-of-13 shooting (.230%). Something needs to be done about Bargnani’s shot selection...soon.
How Should Jay Triano Respond?
Weems needs to stay in the starting lineup at small forward. Kleiza actually performed better off the bench and Weems needs extended minutes so he continues to take and make good shots.
Andrea Bargnani should be sent to the bench, not permanently, but until he respects his teammates enough to take better shots. He is a center shooting .423% which is absolutely terrible for any position never mind the C position. He also needs to be forced to get seven rebounds a game or suffer some kind of negative reinforcement. He is averaging fewer rebounds than he has in the last two years and this is just getting ludicrous.
DeMar DeRozan needs to be given Bargnani’s go-to role, not just in the fourth quarter but all game. Yes, his shot selection is not as good as say, Weems, but we are talking about the future of our franchise who needs to be developed.
Jack continues to play well and it is looking more and more likely that despite his obvious superior chemistry with everyone not named Bargnani that Jack may be the one traded this year due to the fact that there is little to no market for Calderon left.
Amir Johnson needs to get playing time....especially when he has zero fouls. I am not sure how we managed to get no fouls, and I am really not sure how Triano barely let him play despite no foul trouble.
Evans continues to be solid, but with the length of the Raptors bench becoming an issue Bryan Colangelo should look to make the unpopular move of trading Evans now before Reggie becomes so beloved by Toronto fans that BC may not be forgiven for the trade.
