New York Knicks: A Letter To All Knicks Fans
Dear Knick Fans,
As I sat down on my couch getting ready to watch the Knicks vs Denver, I began to think about all those promises that were made to us by ticket brokers, salesman, the ownership, Donnie Walsh and so many hopeful New York Knick fans that 2010-2011 was our year. It was going to be the year that the " Worlds Most Famous Arena" rocked again like it did during the days of Ewing and Starks and Houston and Spreewell. However as everyone knows we struck out and did not land anyone. I will get back to Amare in a little while. When the television showed our starting line up on opening night as Raymond Felton and Landry Fields in the backcourt and Danillo Gallinari, Amare Stoudmire and Timofey Mozgov in the front court, I cant even write what went through my mind. However we beat Toronto and I thought wow this could be pretty good, and then we played some tight games and were 3-2 and I was beginning to believe that this could be the year we finish in the 8th seed. But then my beloved Knicks came back and now have lost 6 straight, most of them while leading in the 4th quarter.
When the Knicks struck out on the "Big 3" of free agency we went to our backup plan which was Amare Stoudmire and no body else. They were desperate, Donnie Walsh was shaking in his boots he didnt know what to do so he decides to bring in our "100 Million Dollar Man" who cant connect on free throws in the fourth quarter, a player who claims he is not used to losing and a player who seems like he could care less down the stretch while the only thing he is doing is cashing checks in the bank. Amare has never done it alone and I don't believe he can, Then we decide to bring in Raymond Felton a quality guard which solid experience and I thought to myself, he can run the pick and roll and he is a pass first point guard, however on this team he shoots almost as many 3s as Gallinari. We also made a whopping trade this offseason trading our allstar center for three duds. However I am a fan of Ronny Turiaf who in my mind is a very strong player. We also acquired Anthony Randolph, standing 6-11 inches and looking like a skinny twig. He is horrific he cant shoot, he looks like he doesn't even know the plays and he is player who probably will never reach his full potential definitely not on this team. Last but not least, Timofey Mozgov, a Russian Center who no one knew anything about, we pay him 9 million over 3 season to play 8 minutes a night and get 5 fouls, We have one hell of an organization here.
While watching the game tonight I noticed a few things that we do all the time and we never learn. One is we have absolutely NO REBOUNDING what so ever, we allow so many rebounds its amazing to watch. The second thing is that every possession down the court is a three pointer, its unbelievable how we think we can win games in the NBA by shooting 3 for 25 from 3 point range, don't you as fans and as players and coaches think that after your about 1-8 you decide maybe we should shoot a 2 or maybe we should drive to the hoop and get fouled, NO they just keep chucking over and over until one magically goes in. The third thing is that we LOVE watching the other team shoot wide open shots without even putting a hand up. HOW CAN YOU EXPECT TO WIN!! its really remarkable as a fan to watch this.
Now on to Management and Coaching Staff, I am sick and tired of hearing about how we did not do so well last offseason and fans shouldn't worry because were going to get this player and that player and whatever other garbage coming out of there mouths. WHO are we going to get?.. WHY would anyone want to play for a loser?? WHO will we give up? we don't have any players that anyone wants. Gallinari will give u a good game 1 out of every 8, it would shock me if Randolph scored more then 12 points in a game, Toney Douglas takes the worst shots and has not hit one in 3 games and everyone else with the exception of Chandler probably wouldnt even be on an NBA roster if they were not on the Knicks. Its ridiculous! Its time for Mike D'antoni to go! He cant coach this team, he doesnt implement defense at all and hes 1 giant LOSER!, Yes he won 50+ games with the Suns but look at the roster he had there and look at the BUMS he has here. You look at other teams around the league and I always look at the Nets they are rebuilding and growing young talent, US on the other hand are most likely giving Houston all of our draft picks with Donnie Walsh's genius plan to shed cap and give away our FUTURE for the next 3 years. I would love to sit down with Donnie Walsh and ask him to his face if he honestly believed for even a second that he was going to lure Lebron James in and Chris Bosh.
Now to JAMES DOLAN- PLEASE DO EVERYONE A FAVOR STOP SITTING BACK AND WATCHING THIS TEAM DIG A GIANT HOLE! PLEASE EITHER FIRE PEOPLE OR SELL THE TEAM. I WOULD PREFER IF YOU SOLD THE TEAM
To the fans, the ones who let this go on by spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on season tickets and group tickets and single game tickets. I have been a Knicks fan for 16 years since I was 4 years old I remember watching those good times, those rivalries with the Miami Heat, Indiana Paces, Finals against Houston and San Antonio those were good times, Now our rivalries are the Sixers and Raptors for whose going to finish in last place of the division. We need to go back to the good times and that wont be until we have new guys in charge. I need everyone to stand up and complain radio stations, write to newspapers, and boycott games because as long as your in the seats they don't care. We need them to care again and bring us back the team that all of us love and want to see win.
Fondly, Knicks Fan
