NBA Trade Rumors: Which NBA Teams Would Be Better with Andre Iguodala?

Ethan NorofNov 10, 2010

Andre Iguodala is a very popular man around the NBA right now.

With the Sixers struggling to find a team identity, multiple clubs have come calling with offers for the versatile All-Star. With the team showing an unwillingness to commit to Iggy as a franchise player, the Sixers are expected to field offers into the near future.

With an uncertainty clouding the league heading into next season, and the Philadelphia squad doubtful to be in playoff contention this season, perhaps they would be better off moving No. 9 for a few pieces that will aid them in the future.

New Orleans Hornets

Undoubtedly the most surprising team in the league with a 7-0 start, the boys down in New Orleans seem to have been re-energized by first-year head coach Monty Williams. With a healthy CP3 back in the fold and the addition of athletic swingman Trevor Ariza, the Hornets are looking to prove that they're smack dab in the middle of the playoff conversation in a crowded Western Conference.

New Orleans' most attractive trade chip is SF Peja Stojakovic's expiring contract. With $15.3 million set to expire at the end of the year, the Sixers could certainly use that type of payroll flexibility as they continue to re-build.

Toronto Raptors

Has anyone ever seen a less talented NBA roster? After wasting a draft pick on the over-hyped Ed Davis, the rookie has yet to see the court this season. Unfortunately for the team, Andrea Bargnani has really failed to excel as the number one option in the offense and opposing defenses are making his life more difficult than it has ever been.

Shooting guards DeMar DeRozan and Sonny Weems have been inconsistent to say the least, and SF Linas Kleiza hasn't provided the type of prolific offense that he did last year in Europe. While they may not have the most attractive group of assets to choose from, the 1-6 Raptors need to do something quickly, and Iguodala may really benefit as he'll finally have the free reign that he's been pushing for throughout his career.

Portland Trailblazers

The Blazers always seem to be toiling in mediocrity, so Iguodala would provide an immediate spark in a deflated lineup. With the news that All-Star and team leader SG Brandon Roy could be sidelined indefinitely with knee troubles, the Blazers are going to have to do something very quickly to remain relevant.

Perhaps no franchise has been as haunted by injuries as Portland has been, as they're already without Greg Oden and this year's first-round pick Elliot Williams. Additionally, Rudy Fernandez has tried to punch his ticket out of town in almost every way possible, so why not ship him to Philly? Iguodala can also handle the ball quite effectively, which bodes quite well for the team since they just traded PG Jerryd Bayless to New Orleans.

Is there another team that could benefit from the addition of Iguodala? Where do you think is the best landing spot? Join the discussion and post a comment below.
