Phoenix Suns: Early Impressions From Steve Nash and The New Look Suns
The opening week of the NBA regular season is nearly over, and it would seem that the Phoenix Suns have nothing more than a 1-2 record to show for it.
Sure, the schedule hasn't been friendly, but unfortunately it doesn't get any nicer for the Suns in the month of November.
Phoenix still has to go on the road to face the defending champion Lakers, followed by the Nuggets, Magic, and Heat before the calendar even flips to December.
Certainly, the key for these Suns will be how they gel through the first two months and if they can muster up a decent enough record to keep them in the Western Conference playoff hunt.
All the initial signs point towards this happening. Phoenix could easily be 3-0 right now, mainly in part to what made them so dangerous last season.
Last year, Phoenix achieved a conference finals appearance out of it's deadly accurate three-point shooting and close-knit family like rotations.
The team's chemistry has been well documented by point guard Steve Nash in the past and already a few times this season.
On his Facebook page, following the Suns' road loss at Portland on opening night, Nash posted a video upon landing in Utah, making light of his 9 turnovers.
Jared Dudley, a member of Phoenix's super-talented bench, has even joined in on the fun with video reports for his faux reporting organization called JMZ, a rip off of TMZ, a famous celebrity tabloid website.
Nash and Dudley definitely keep the locker room atmosphere light, at least teammates like Hakim Warrick think so.
Though it is quite early to tell if the combination of chemistry and an extremely potent offense can measure up to a playoff berth, there is no doubt that a lot more than a win has been gained from the Suns' 1-2 start.
In addition to team morale, Phoenix has scored over 106 points in it's last two games and looks to be firing on all cylinder come Wednesday night against San Antonio.
With a brutal schedule to begin the season, and a handful of fresh faces to fit in, the Phoenix Suns are all right, at least for now.
