2010-2011 Milwaukee Bucks Season Opener: Bucks Suffer a Hearbreaking Loss

Zach HerringOct 27, 2010

To tell you the truth, I could care less about LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and the whole Miami Heat team. I am into my team, the Milwaukee Bucks, and they suffered a heartbreaking 95-91 loss on their season opener.

The game started off pretty good; the Hornets had the big leads, the Bucks would come close or tie but the Hornets would get it back. The Bucks starting lineup was, Jennings, Salmons, Delfino, Gooden, and Bogut. With Maggette being the 6th Man.

The key matchup was Brandon Jennings against Chris Paul. Jennings handled CP3 as well as he could; Paul is amazing so it’s hard to control him.

Jennings ended the game with 15 points and 10 assists and Paul ended with 17 points and 16 assists. I was really impressed by Paul; I forgot how good he really was.

The rookie, Larry Sanders, had a pretty good showing for his first game in the NBA. He had only an assist and a block, but Larry showed Bucks fans that he will be able to give the Bucks something good this season.

Back to the block, all I can say is, WOW. Jerryd Bayless, back up! Bayless was going to put up a shot at the buzzer, and Larry was having NONE of that and smashed the shot out of bounds. Big props to Larry for that block.

But when Larry blocked that shot the Bucks announcer, Jim Paschke, told listeners to Fear The Fawn. I don’t mind them saying it, but I think I was the first to say it. I will have to talk to him about that.

Bogut showed us that he is definitely back. He finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds. I am really angered by Bogut though because he was 3-10 from the free throw line. That really needs to improve.

On the other hand, tonight, I fell in love with Corey Maggette.

This guy can get to the free throw line. I was amazed because I had heard he got there a lot but had never really watched a full game of his until the preseason. He got there eight times and made all eight shots. He finished with a total of 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Drew Gooden also impressed me because I can already tell that he will give Bogut much needed help this season because of his size and ability to score and rebound. He finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Carlos Delfino, who started, was one of the most exciting players to watch last season because he gets into the game and you can tell he REALLY wants to win. He is also a great three point threat, and had five made threes out of 10 attempts. He finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Down by three points, the game came down to a terrible call, as John Salmons went up for a three and was fouled, clearly, and no call was made and the Bucks had to foul. One free throw was made and Jennings could not make the three, which really wouldn’t have done much with a foul and make.

Overall, I was really impressed by the Bucks. It's only one game. The NBA still needs to, FEAR THE DEER!

Final Score: 95-91
