Five Things That Could Make NBA 2K12 The Best Game Ever

Joey MillsOct 9, 2010

Even before its release on October 5th, basketball video game fans were already saying that NBA 2K11 would be the greatest basketball game of all time, and it has not disappointed.  The game play, graphics, and unique player traits have been hugely upgraded from NBA 2K10.  Even though this game seems like it is the best that there ever could be, there are some changes, or rather additions, that 2K Sports could make in NBA 2K12 to make people completely forget about Michael Jordan and NBA 2K11.

5. Make Wingspan Another Factor in Player Creation

Whenever you create a new player in the NBA 2K games, you can edit their height, but you can't make it so that they have Kevin Durant or Lamar Odom-like arms.  If they added this, then not only would it make the player creation more flexible, but it would make the NBA players more realistic because the 2K developers could give them longer arms than other players.

4. Allow You To Edit Home and Away Accessories

In Madden, you are allowed to change the uniforms and accessories for your players for both their home and away uniforms, and you should be able to do that with the NBA teams as well.  Even though 2K has already made it so that the shoes change, the other accessories like headbands, sleeves, and wrist bands don't.  The game has made it so that your sleeves and wristbands will change colors depending on home or away, but you can't make it so that it is a team color on the road and white at home, and a lot of the times when I'm playing with a player such as Carmelo Anthony, his arm band won't be the same color as his jersey.  If they did this, then it would make the already extremely realistic game a little more realistic.  Also, the head bands you can't change the color of at all right now.

3. Allow You To Play My Player Mode As An Actual NBA Player

Every NBA fan wonders what it would be like to be Kobe Bryant or LeBron James, but no basketball game has allowed them to do that yet.  If they were able to add this feature to NBA 2K12, then players would be able to make an NBA player's legacy how they wanted it.  Whether it be make Darko Milicic a career 20/10 guy, or making Adam Morrison the leagues leading scorer, this game mode would allow you to do that, without having to make a fake character to completely change the NBA.

2. Add International Teams

The only thing that I like about NBA Live is that they include the International teams.  I think that being able to play games with Spain, Brazil, and Argentina, because it would be fun to see how they match up with NBA teams and the players would learn more about international players that they might have never heard of before.  But, since having too many teams would be hard to do on the game, I think they should only have 8 international teams.  Here are the teams I think they should have:

Spain

Why: Always the 2nd or 3rd best basketball team in the world and they have a ton of NBA players

Argentina

Why: Always the 2nd or 3rd best basketball team in the world and they have a ton of NBA players

Greece

Why: One of the best teams, and they gave the USA trouble

Brazil

Why: All the NBA players and they are always good

China

Why: Yao Ming and Yi Jianlian

USA

Why: The best NBA players

Germany

Why: Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman

Russia

Why: One of the best international teams

1. Add Classic Teams

Although the additions of some of the best '90s teams are nice, they were sort of a disappointment to me, because some of them were repeated, and the others weren't there for any other reason than to be in the Jordan Challenges.  If NBA 2K12 wants to surpass NBA 2K11, then this is where they could make the biggest difference.  If NBA 2K12 could just have 9 classic teams and 2 special teams, then fans of the video game franchise would be very happy.  Here are the teams I think they should have:

1996-1997 Utah Jazz

Why: John Stockton and Karl Malone and they lost to the Bulls in the Finals

1995-1996 Chicago Bulls

Why: They won 72 games and the NBA Championship

1995-1996 Seattle Supersonics

Why: One of the best teams never to win a championship and famous players

1993-1994 Houston Rockets

Why: NBA Champions and Hakeem Olajuwon

1993-1994 New York Knicks

Why: Patrick Ewing and the other famous Knicks

1988-1989 Detroit Pistons

Why: NBA Champions and all the famous Bad Boy Pistons

1986-1987 Los Angeles Lakers

Why: NBA Champions and one of the most famous Lakers teams of all time

1985-1986 Boston Celtics

Why: NBA Champions and one of the most famous Celtics teams of all time

1985-1986 Philadelphia 76ers

Why: Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Julius Erving

All-Time Lakers

Why: All of the great players

All-Time Celtics

Why: All of the great players

I wanted to include Bill Russell, Jerry West, and Wilt Chamberlain teams in the game, but since that was so long ago it would be hard to get some of the players in the game and a lot of the players on those teams wouldn't even be able to play in the NBA today, so it would be hard to give them ratings.
