2010 Super Fantasy Rankings: Top 10 Fantasy Goaltenders
Ever wonder which fantasy rankings you should go by? If you were in a keeper pool you would want a different ranking then if you were in a one-year pool. Some sites focus more of young players while other sites look at players to help you win now. Remember that some of these rankings, especially ones from magazines, are based on the players contract status at the time of print (ex. Niemi being a free agent at time of print), which could rank a player lower than their actual value.
We have complied a list using 15 different fantasy rankings to get an average of where each player is listed. A few sources used predicted stats in their rankings but we tried to stay away from predicted stats and just use fantasy rankings to create these "super rankings."

Here are the top 10 goalies:
1. RYAN MILLER (BUFFALO)—Miller was ranked as the No. 1 goalie on nine lists and as low as No. 8. Don’t underrated Miller because he plays for Buffalo, all he has done is racked up wins and shutouts. Two straight seasons of starting 58+ games with ONLY 18 losses in each of those seasons.
2. ROBERTO LUONGO (VANCOUVER)—Luongo was ranked as the No. 1 goalie on three lists and as low as No. 6. Despite what felt like an off year for Luongo he still recorded 40 wins for the second time of his career. With a full-time goalie coach and new players like Keith Ballard and Dan Hamhuis on the blue line expect Luongo to put up career numbers.
3. MARTIN BRODEUR (NEW JERSEY)—Brodeur was ranked as the No. 1 goalie on three lists and as low as No. 14. Age is not a factor when you talk about Brodeur, at 37 years old he recorded his second highest win total (45) of his career last season. Count on another 40+ win season this year.
4. HENRIK LUNDQVIST (NEW YORK)—Lundqvist was ranked as high as No. 2 and as low as No. 16. When drafting a fantasy goalie you want one who starts a lot and that’s Lundqvist. Lundqvist has started in 70+ games in each of the last three seasons while averaging over 35+ wins a season.
5. ILYA BRYZGALOV (PHOENIX)—Bryzgalov was ranked as high as No. 2 and as low as No. 19. Bryzgalov is coming off a career season of 42 wins and eight shutouts. At the age of 30 Bryzgalov is just entering his prime and should put up another 40+ win season.
6. JIMMY HOWARD (DETROIT)—Howard was ranked as high as No. 2 and as low as No. 17. Howard had a phenomenal rookie season recording 37 wins and three shutouts. Be cautious with Howard as the trend is for goalies to struggle in their sophomore year (ex. Steve Mason or Carey Price) but remember that Howard is an older sophomore compared to most sophomore goalies.
7. MARC-ANDRE FLEURY (PITTSBURGH)—Fleury was ranked as high as No. 3 and as low as No. 17. Fleury is a strong goalie but will likely never be considered an elite goalie. Fleury will continue to put up wins but has not put up huge shutout numbers as he only recorded one shutout last season.
8. PEKKA RINNE (NASHVILLE)—Rinne was ranked as high as No. 4 and as low as No. 20. Rinne has recorded two straight seasons with seven shutouts. Rinne has shared the starting duties over the last two seasons and is now the clear cut No. 1 so count on a career season for Rinne.
9. TUUKKA RASK (BOSTON)—Rask was ranked as high as No. 6 and as low as No. 23. Rask started 39 games last season and finished with 22 wins and five shutouts. Rask is only 23 years old and is ready to be a star in the NHL. Rask will carry the majority of the workload this season, as Boston looks ready to be a contender in the East.
10. MIIKKA KIPRUSOFF (CALGARY)—Kiprusoff was ranked as high as No. 3 and as low as No. 20. Kiprusoff has started in 70+ games in each of the last three seasons. The Flames will struggle this season but Kipper should still be good for 30+ wins.
