Interesting notes from media day

Hardcourt MayhemSep 28, 2010

Doug Thonus who was at the Chicago Bulls media day, have some interesting notes from yesterday. I couldn’t post it last night I was starting getting sick right after I post the Taj Gibson Q&A session so I apologize for me being late on this one but here it is.

Per Doug Thonus from Chicago Confidential Blog:

"

Most of the returning Bulls have spent a tremendous amount of time working with Tom Thibodeau already, and the one thing that was commented on by several players is that Thibodeau is getting down and dirty and directly coaching the players rather than leaving it up to the assistants. He’s working on every little aspect of the game with each of the guys individually. Noah, Gibson, and Johnson all spoke at length about it.

Everyone also talked about Thibodeau’s attention to detail, and that there’s no way they’ll ever be unprepared for a game playing underneath him. While not a direct shot at Vinny, whom players were generally positive of, the implication certainly was that this wasn’t always the case last season.

Thibodeau’s sessions in the summer were described as very intense. He ran the same things over and over and over again. He told players he liked it when they got bored, because that meant they were getting good at it.

The themes I picked up on from those who worked with Thibodeau were playing at a high pace on offense and playing strong defense.

Very good stuff, players working with Tom Thibodeau for quite some time now. It will be interesting how this plays out in the regular season and a interesting note that they were playing a high pace on offense and playing strong defense. Taj Gibson who mentions from his interview with Doug Thonus that the team will be a uptempo team plus added few things which will be interesting what those things exactly.

Now here is another interesting note from the same article, this one is about Joakim Noah and regarding his contract extension.

"

I only got to ask Noah one question, so I asked him about how the new CBA would affect his negotiations this season. He paused for awhile, and said well the new CBA could go either way. I responded that the vast majority of people expect it to go against the players and that there would be less money next year, and asked if he thinks that factors into his decision again.

He then paused for probably five seconds while seeming to really seriously contemplate the idea and then just said “yeah”.

If Noah signs an extension and cites the new CBA, you’ll know who planted the seed.

"

Now we know for sure who started plotting the seed if thing gets done. But Doug make a good interesting point, with the new CBA it could be against the players and after he ask the question this could effect Joakim Noah’s decision regarding the contract extension.

Maybe just maybe he may consider for whatever current offer was on the table after-all, reports that the Chicago Bulls offered 5 years and 57.5 million dollars I believe according to Alex Kennedy. If that offered was on the table he may consider taking that offer or possible the $60 million dollar offer the most instead of the range of $70-$75 million dollars for five years that he was hoping for that kind of offer again according to those reports.
