Chicago Bulls out of Melo sweepstakes?
Per CBSSports.com:
"The Bulls are “out of it” for now, said one executive privy to Chicago’s insistence on keeping Joakim Noah and the Nuggets’ refusal to take back Luol Deng. The Knicks, having dealt their 2012 first-round pick to Houston as well as the rights to swap 2011 first-rounders with the Rockets in the trade that created the cap space that was their only chance to land LeBron James, need a trading partner willing to sweeten their offer with an attractive first-round pick. Even then, the assets the Knicks have to offer aren’t appealing to Denver.
"
The key word is for now, but that is all just speculation at this point. Again, it make sense since reports that the Bulls are not willing to trade Joakim Noah at this point which I think they do the right thing. But I do not believe the Bulls are out of it completely, both the Houston Rockets and New Jersey can offer a better deal than both the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls as I pointed out time after time.
But here is something interesting, there are some reports that the New Jersey Nets are not willing to trade Derrick Favor which they drafted him this past summer draft with their number 2 overall pick with their first round. Some other reports that the Nets are willing to trade Derrick Favor so who knows which reports are true. Now the question is will Carmelo Anthony is willing to sign an extension to the New Jersey Nets? There are reports indicate that Carmelo Anthony said he will not sign an extension in New Jersey, and he has narrowed down to two teams, New York Knicks and the Chicago Bulls.
Now, if that report as I mention from the last sentence above are true, then the report from the article from CBSSports that the Bulls are not out of the running. But keep in mind, it also stated that the Chicago Bulls are out of the running, for now so things could change from now. But again, all this is nothing but speculation and rumors floating around and sadly it will not stop until things get done and it may not get done until next summer.
But we got to wait and see what happens, I will be glad if Carmelo Anthony was traded to Chicago without giving up Joakim Noah that will put one of the top teams in the league. I have my doubts and I still do that I do not think the Chicago Bulls will be able to get Carmelo Anthony but I do believe he will leave the Denver Nuggets one way or another. I just do not know if he will be traded to a team that he agrees to a contract extension or wait until next summer become a free agent and sign else where which I think it is going to happen.
Now here is something interesting from the same article, here is the quote:
"So the Nets, according to sources, have been canvassing the league for a trading partner, with the most likely result continuing to be sending guard Devin Harris to a third team that possesses a skilled wing player the Nuggets would view as a decent replacement for Anthony.
"
If this is true, that would be downgrading the talent wise unless Carmelo Anthony is not committing to win. But again, the team may try to make room and go after Chris Paul or Deron Williams when both become free agents in two years so it make sense, it is something to think about.
