NBA Rumors: Is New Jersey in the Drivers Seat For Melo?

Hayden KimSep 24, 2010

In recent reports, a new team in the East has suddenly flipped the script on Chicago and New York. The New Jersey Nets are now rumored to be involved in the race for Nuggets superstar, Carmelo Anthony.

It's interesting how much a team can change in the course of a year. The Nets could potentially have the biggest turn around in the history of the game, if they pick up Melo.

Now I'm guessing that most of you are wondering if this is just another joke to stir up more unwanted news, but this is highly plausible. The deal would consist of four different teams: The Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, Charlotte Bobcats, and the New Jersey Nets.

Nets rookie, Derrick Favors would head to Denver along with Jazz veteran, Andre "AK-47" Kirilenko and multiple first-round picks. The catch is, that the Nets would most likely give up young star, Devin Harris, with Bobcats forward Boris Diaw headed to Salt Lake City.

All in all, all four teams benefit in some way. It may not be equal but Melo and the Nets would be very pleased if this deal really did go through.

The only question about this deal would be, would Carmelo take a chance with a team in rebuilding mode and could he make the Nets a championship caliber team? Honestly, I don't know.

Ironically the Bobcats could potentially benefit more from this deal then the Nets, which is the reason behind the headline news. Just think, the Bobcats were a playoff team without Devin Harris and if they get a star in Harris, who knows what they could do.

All in all this should be a season for the history books. Who knows we may see "The Decision" happen again very soon, or we won't. But we could see Melo heading for New Jersey, or New York, after all he never really did say where in New York he really wanted to go.

I don't know why Melo would want to leave a decent Denver team for potentially New York, or New Jersey, I hope he makes the right decision so that we the fans can experience an even more exciting year.
