NBA Tweet Time: Dwyane Wade Has Special Message for Michael Beasley
As most know, the Michael Beasley project is done. The Miami Heat chose to venture down another road after they locked up All-Star Chris Bosh during this summer’s free agency. With Bosh’s acquisition the Heat felt they no longer needed the services of the team’s second leading scorer for the past two seasons.
Many people outside the organization often speculated that Beasley and Wade didn’t get along or see eye to eye. A lot of fans also felt that way. These sentiments were odd because neither Wade nor Beasley ever stated that there was any kind of rift.
The speculations often came when those on the outside looking in felt there were times Wade should have took on a more protective role of the kid when he was placed under heavy criticism. Instead, Wade would often agree with what many said.
To Beasley’s credit, he never fed into it. He always maintained a respectful attitude and agreed with whatever assertions Wade stated publicly. His sentiments even carried over once he got traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Even when given all the opportunity and reasons to express anger or hate, Beasley has chosen to take the higher road.
In his first interview after being traded Beasley expressed how he was grateful for all that he experienced in Miami. He said Wade and the Heat made him a better player than he was before he came into the league.
This would be an odd thing to do if you actually didn’t get along with someone.
So was this another case of the media blowing smoke and creating a story when there was never one to be told?
Looking at Wade’s message yesterday via his twitter account, it appears many people had the story wrong.
“It was good seeing my 2 younger bros Mike Beasley and dwright this week. Ima miss those guys especially in the looker room."
Apparently Wade spent some time with Michael Beasley and Dorell Wright this past week. It wasn’t specified as too what grounds the trio linked up.
What was cleared up is the fact that there is no bad blood between Wade and Beasley.
The two have a genuine respect and admiration for one another. Beasley knows he let down Wade and Wade probably understands he failed Beasley.
Maybe one day the two can rectify what wasn’t.
For now Wade will settle for competing for titles over the next half decade or more. Beasley’s future doesn’t look so bright in those regards.
So he’ll have to settle for making his big brother Wade proud by fulfilling his seemingly limitless potential.
