Lebron James Disaster! 60% In This Poll Vote That The King Will Never Recover
It has now been over 60 days since The Decision and the King has yet to stop the bashing.
The King had twittered that he would attend the much anticipated football game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Miami Hurricanes this Saturday, creating more unwanted and negative Lebron bashing:
"LeBron can root for any team he wants to, but he ripped the whole state's heart out, not just Cleveland, so if I was him, I would not show up at the game," said Robbie McGowan, 43, who was born and raised in Cleveland but now lives in Virginia and was among those expressing pro-boo views on Twitter. James was a no show at the event and a good thing too, as he would have been the focus of booing from both sides.
The once beloved King has fallen off his pedestal and continues to fall into a black hole reserved only for the reviled. A place misfits like Tiger Woods, Gilbert Arenas, OJ Simpson, Roger Clemens, and Mike Tyson all call home. The Lebron bashing occurring across the country this summer over his majesty’s ongoing three ring circus has grown both deafening and nauseating. It has taken on a life of its own surpassing even the back lashing received by Tiger Woods. In fact, Mr. Woods must be extremely grateful to the King for stealing the golfer’s enormously negative and glaring spotlight. As a result, the national media is on Lebron’s case. Basketball’s holy trinity (Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson) have all spoken of their disdain. Charles Barkley, the punk of all punks has called him a punk. Comedians are having a hay day with freshly minted Lebron jokes.
Every time Lebron’s bloody wound created from this tumultuous circus shows minute signs of healing, he puts salt on it to keep the blood flowing. This three ring circus that was born instantly after The Decision and of which Lebron refuses to let cool from its present and intense supernova state. He has allowed the media to give him the 3rd degree at every step of every day. Media sources are having a field day. Foxsports.com has published several disrespecting articles for the King including: The Clown Prince; Benedict Lebron; Like Mike (Tyson); You Twit; Who‘s The Bigger Jerk (Lebron vs. Favre), and Freak Show. The Bleacher Report’s articles include: King Twit; Stop Acting Like a 13 Year Old Girl; GQ Interview Suggests Lebron is Fully Detached From Reality, etc.
Shakespeare could have written a comedy for Lebron, but unfortunately it has become more like the tragedy of Othello. Othello, whose madness caused him to kill his love Desdemona (in this case, the city of Cleveland) and then himself after he realizes what he had done. Hopefully Lebron will not follow the play’s script line for line. Why does Lebron repeatedly continue to display such self depreciating acts of narcissistic behavior leaving him wide open to widespread criticism, especially since it was all so unnecessary? He has gone from superhero to super villain extraordinaire in less than 60 seconds. Millions of sports fans in America, especially those in Cleveland, NY, NJ, LA, and Chicago feel like they have been bitten by a snake. In fact, it is mostly only Miami fans that remain unaware with horse blinders on. They seem to exist in a vacuum protected from the media’s shark feeding frenzy. Words found on the web to describe Lebron range from selfish, immature, foolish, ignorant, oblivious, uneducated, and much worse.
Lebron has conducted himself in a less than admirable manner and has obviously received some ill advice from his friend Maverick Carter and the rest of his management team. It is obvious that they are grossly lacking in even adequate PR skills. So limited is their understanding of PR in fact, that the James camp’s idea of using "common sense" makes no sense.
Lebron, who not only two months ago could do nothing wrong, can do nothing right. He continues to display behavior unbecoming of a King (post decision), that has been immature, irresponsible, and nauseating, especially under the newly sensitive circumstances. It started with The Decision in its unprecedented and most amateurish and arrogant splendor, where Lebron first showed signs of contracting foot in mouth disease. When asked about the possible problems of sharing the spotlight with Bosh and Wade, Lebron responds with, “It's not about sharing. You know, it's about everybody having their own spotlight." It's not about sharing?! This was good advice for the children in attendance.
The backlash from The Decision should have been enough for him to lay low for a while and not antagonize an already very negative and sensitive situation. You know, like what Tiger’s doing at the moment. Instead, he remains in the glaring spotlight as much as possible, making his situation even worse. Why oh why?! Immediately after “The Decision,” Lebron was introduced to Miami fans as part of the big 3 in rock star fashion. Then he’s seen promoting the Vegas night life for a fee. He then takes an ad out to thank his fans in Akron, blatantly dismissing the Cleveland fans that supported and adored him by filling his pockets with tens of millions of dollars. He is seen doing a “mega merchandising business deal” with the help of a Rabbi to the stars (may not be a bad idea under normal circumstances but not under the microscope of this three ring circus tent). He posts a shockingly paranoid statement on his twitter account that he’s watching ALL those who are taking shots at him as if he thinks he’s St. Nick making a list. You better be good for goodness sake! He does an interview with GQ admitting that he has always hated Cleveland. Gasp. We need a truck load of Gravol NOW!
The fact is, Lebron was a free agent and it was his prerogative to leave Cleveland, despite the fact that the majority believe he took the easy way out. But ethically Mr. James did plenty wrong. First it is apparent that the super-friends had collusion on their minds for many months, a secret plan to turn the NBA scene into pickup street basketball where you pick your own teams and gang up on the rest. The momentum of this action has got Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony wanting in, threatening to change the landscape of the NBA. Second, Lebron has been directly involved in the recruitment of multiple free agents to the Heat including those from the Cav's. This has been on an unprecedented level for an NBA player. Should Lebron’s second title be that of GM?
After all this, one has to wonder how this train got off its tracks. Why are Maverick Carter and the rest of his team not protecting the King’s image? Lebron’s PR is absolutely and utterly nonexistent. Is it possible that Lebron has become such a spoiled and egotistical ignoramus with a god complex to boot? Or is he just blindly and foolishly following an ill conceived script prepared for him by Maverick Carter resulting in all these negative headlines to be unwittingly created? Lebron is most definitely guilty of being foolish enough to entrust and empower friends with his very career, which includes the only man on earth that seems to be able to control him, Maverick Carter. Maverick is too green with inexperience, obviously too ignorant and too self absorbed to see the damage and hell that he has and is inflicting on Lebron. Unfortunately for Lebron, he can’t see this either as he is most definitely detached from reality. This is why Maverick Carter is not fired yet. This is why the media’s shark feeding frenzy continues with new and tasty scraps of news with no signs of dissipating. This is why extremely grateful Tiger Wood’s is being let off the media’s enormous grappling hook.
This nightmare has all been so unnecessary. Here is an athlete that reached the lonely stratosphere on Mount Olympus as only MJ, Bo Jackson, and Tiger Woods could. A peak both the King and Tiger have fallen from in disgrace. He had reached that plateau without a single championship to boot. Will Lebron be able to make his way back up the mountain? The man has undeniable skills second only to Michael Jordan but the average sports fan is smarter than that. For us to forget this escapade into ridiculousness, we have a list of demands that must be met. Lebron must not only do his talking on the court as the Miami Heat’s “first option” (because he is the best), he must show retribution for his sins against the fans and against the game itself. He can start by getting a psychiatric assessment and a major public relations overhaul NOW… to STOP THE BASHING!
