NBA: Top Five Centers
This is the long delayed fifth segment in the series rating the best players at each position. As I stated in my power forward article, I am including Tim Duncan and Amare Stoudemire as a center because that is the position they play the most, or will play the most.
Honorable Mention
1 of 7
Al Horford: Horford is a good young player, but isn't quite good enough to make the top 5.
Andrew Bogut: Bogut is in the same situation as Horford, though Andrew has had some injury problems.

5. Chris Kaman
3 of 7
Kaman is a quality player who struggles with injuries. If he could stay healthy, and played for a team other than the Clippers, I think he would be well known around the league. As it is, most casual fans don't know who he is, which is a shame for the quality player he is.
4. Amare' Stoudemire
4 of 7
Amare' only at number 4? Yes I know he scores like crazy and is amazing on the offensive part of the game. Unfortunately, he is bad on defense. Unless, of course, you think good defense consists of pretending to be a matador and letting your guy blow by you. He doesn't rebound well either. These demerits drop him to number 4, because there are 4 other more complete players.
3. Brook Lopez
5 of 7
I almost put Lopez at number 2, but in the end I decided he wasn't quite there yet. At the end of this year, he may very well be in the top two, but for now he just isn't quite there. Brook can do everything fairly well, and is likely to be one of the best big men in the game for quite some time.
2. Tim Duncan
6 of 7
What can I say about Duncan that hasn't been said yet? Not much. Yes, he may be closer to the end of his career than the start, and yes he isn't quite the player he once was, but he is still a very good player. He is an intelligent ballplayer, can shoot his famous bank shots as well as he ever could, and plays well on defense in addition to rebounding well.
1. Dwight Howard
7 of 7
You were expecting maybe Samuel Dalembert? No, this is the easiest pick yet, Dwight is easily the best center in the league today. Yes, I realize he isn't polished offensively, but despite that he still did average over 18 points a game last year. Defensively and rebounding wise, he is spectacular. Thats my list, whats yours?
