Indiana Pacers Welcome Their Newest Additions
Today the Indiana Pacers got their first look at the two newest acquisitions to the team. One of them, the long-term solution at point guard, with a surprise on his shooting hand.
Darren Collison and James Posey met with the media today as they arrived to talk publicly for the first time since being involved in the four-team trade that brought them here last week. Both players showed incredible class, and really showed great character.
While newly signed rookie Lance Stephenson got into some trouble this past weekend, there has still been good news around the team. Not only have Collison and Posey been added to the team, but Danny Granger has been performing really well for Team USA in their exhibition games. The first game, he dropped 22 points in a rout for Team USA.
Collison and Posey talked to the media for awhile about what they expect with this team, and how they feel about being here. Both players seemed excited to get things rolling. Posey said he is really looking forward to meeting the other guys on the team, and helping turn this franchise back to it's winning ways. He said he is a winner, and that is what he is here to do.
The first thing everyone noticed with Darren Collison was the giant wrap/cast on his shooting hand. He explained to everyone that he fractured his pinkie while playing basketball, but will be ready to play again in three week, long before training camp is set to being. He told the media that it's really not an issue; nothing to worry about.
Posey and Collison took the time to pose with their new jerseys (Collison No. 2 and Posey No. 41) before answering some questions, and then it was on to the questions about Lance Stephenson.
I really don't feel like getting into that right now, so I think I will just leave it at that.
At any rate, the city is really excited to see this team on the floor, and expectations are high (but not too high) for the next few years, as long as Bird can bring in a solid big man to put at the PF spot. If the team can make room to sign Magnum Rolle, they might settle for that, which won't be a bad thing either.
Hopefully the focus today was on Collison and Posey, instead of Lance. This is what we need to focus on; the future of our franchise, which is looking good.
