Why The Los Angles Lakers Can Win Their Third NBA Championship in a Row
As time has passed since the end of the 2009-2010 season, the LA Lakers have begun putting into place all of the pieces they need to in order to go for a third NBA championship in a row.
Last season was the second championship the Lakers have won in a row. If the Lakers can do exactly what they did last season again, they have a very good chance of not only making it to the NBA finals, but winning another championship as well.
The key to the Lakers' success this season will be based on the work they have done in the preseason.
They have re-signed the necessary players, they are bringing back an excellent coach, their players are taking care of themselves in the off season, they have a previous winning record and they have the have the drive to win.
The next several slides describe how everything the Lakers have done since last season will put them in the right position to win another championship next season.
Re-Signing the Necessary Players

Two of the Lakers’ most important free agents have re-signed to the team.
Players that have signed another contract securing their place with this championship team include Shannon Brown and Derek Fisher.
These two players are important parts of this championship team.
Brown, while not a superstar player for the Lakers, is an important backup guard for the team. With the improvements in his game over the last few seasons, he could see more playing time and play a more crucial role on the team this season.
Fisher was an important re-sign because of his ability to play well under pressure. In the 2010 NBA playoffs alone, he was able to score many points in the last quarter or last seconds of the game, which helped secure a championship for his team.
While these may only be two players among many on the team, the re-signing of these two players was a step in the right direction for the Lakers if they want to win another championship next season.
Bringing Back Phil Jackson

After a lot of doubt as to whether or not Phil Jackson would come back to coach the Lakers again for another season, the Lakers were able to resign their star coach.
Without a decent coach, no matter how great the talent on the team, the Lakers would not be the team they are today.
Jackson has so far led the Lakers to five NBA championships over the last 10 years.
With his coaching abilities secured for another season, the Lakers are in a good position to come back for this season ready to play for, and win, another championship.
Kobe Bryant Has Knee Surgery

Last month Kobe Bryant had knee surgery to fix the knee problems he faced last season.
According to reports from the team, Bryant should be able to be back on the court for the first day of training camp come September.
With his knee problems no longer an issue, Bryant can focus more fully on the game. In addition to not having to worry about his injury, Bryant will no longer be in as much pain, which will be beneficial in ensuring that the Lakers’ star player comes back better than ever and ready to take on next season.
The Record and Dedication are on Their Side

The Lakers have already won two NBA championships in a row in the last two years.
Most of the championship team from last season is coming back, and the team already knows what it takes to make it to the NBA finals to give themselves a chance to go for a third championship.
So far history of the last two years has shown this team knows what it takes to get it done on the court.
As long as this team doesn’t get too cocky or complacent, and can keep their drive to win, then they have an excellent chance at winning a third NBA championship in a row this season.
