In an interesting turn of events regarding the Miami Heatโ€™s current roster, Greg Cote of the Miami Herald reported this morning that despite public speculation, Patrick Beverleyโ€™s agent said his clientโ€™s two-year, $1.2 million deal is fully guaranteed.

That makes 15 fully guaranteed contracts on the roster, while Shavlik Randolph and Kenny Hasbrouck are on โ€œmake goodโ€ deals. This means that they would have to make the roster to get paid.

Beverley played last year for Greek power Olympiacos, averaging 2.7 ppg and 1.9 rpg in 19 Euroleague games. He displayed his ability to defend the point position in this yearโ€™s Vegas Summer League.

His quick feet and aggressive, active mentality will bode well in the NBA. However, offensively, he isnโ€™t nearly as polished.

Assuming he does make the team, a safe bet at this point considering the nature of his deal, he will likely be used purely as a defensive specialist until his offense improves.

Below is the Heatโ€™s current roster, with the fully guaranteed contracts in bold.

Mario Chalmers

Dwyane Wade

LeBron James

Chris Bosh

Joel Anthony

Udonis Haslem
