In an interesting turn of events regarding the Miami Heat’s current roster, Greg Cote of the Miami Herald reported this morning that despite public speculation, Patrick Beverley’s agent said his client’s two-year, $1.2 million deal is fully guaranteed.

That makes 15 fully guaranteed contracts on the roster, while Shavlik Randolph and Kenny Hasbrouck are on “make good” deals. This means that they would have to make the roster to get paid.

Beverley played last year for Greek power Olympiacos, averaging 2.7 ppg and 1.9 rpg in 19 Euroleague games. He displayed his ability to defend the point position in this year’s Vegas Summer League.

His quick feet and aggressive, active mentality will bode well in the NBA. However, offensively, he isn’t nearly as polished.

Assuming he does make the team, a safe bet at this point considering the nature of his deal, he will likely be used purely as a defensive specialist until his offense improves.

Below is the Heat’s current roster, with the fully guaranteed contracts in bold.

Mario Chalmers

Dwyane Wade

LeBron James

Chris Bosh

Joel Anthony

Udonis Haslem

Mike Miller

Eddie House

Zydrunas Ilgauskas

Juwan Howard

James Jones

Carlos Arroyo

Jamaal Magloire

Dexter Pittman

Patrick Beverley

Shavlik Randolph (make-good deal)

Kenny Hasbrouck (make-good deal)
