Knicks Should Take Another Shot at TMac

New York is looking for another shooting guard.

TMac is looking for a job.

What's the hold up here?

OK he was less than impressive last year.  Old, injured lion looking more pathetic and tired than one of the greatest offensive talent of this generation.

But he is no longer looking for 10 million plus money nor be the go to guy on the team. He only wants to start. And Knicks do not have a starting SG penciled in.  This could and should work.  Give him 3mil left on the cap and sign him for two years.

Knicks are very, very young.  He would be the veteran with a big name.  He may be a shell of his old self but Amare and TMac will still demand respect and give more room for youngsters like Gallo, Chandler, Randolf, Azubuike and Douglas to develop.

Right now, Amare is the only option with skills and experience of taking the last shot.  Being a PF/C, they got to get the ball to him.  Felton and Gallo could be other options.  But having a guy like TMac who has taken hundreds of those will at least keep opponents honest and spread the floor.

If the Knicks sign TMac their rotation would be..

PG: Felton, Douglas

SG: TMac, Azubuike

SF: Gallo, Chandler

PF: Amare, Randolf

C: Turiaf, Mozgov

There would be a good balance and combination of shooter/slasher in PG, SG and SF that D'Antoni could use.

OK, out of those above 10, 7 have history of  some injury and I understand that Knicks are looking for some insurances in Rudy Fernandez and Shannon Brown. But still, TMac brings so many other intangibles to the table that the above two will not.  His usage may be limited, but he can bring the experience, killer instinct and diversity to the rotation. Give him another, full year or two at the Garden, he may become a vital catalyst in helping to make this young team into a real special one.

Hey, and most of all, this guy could stay injury free and be really good.  Knicks are due for some luck
