CBSSports.com recently reported that Chris Paul is not happy with his situation in New Orleans and wants to be traded before the regular season starts.

The Portland Trail Blazers are a team that could use an upgrade at the PG spot to become legit contenders.

They also have a lot of trade assets and expiring contracts that they can use to get a star point guard like Chris Paul or Devin Harris.

Both of these players will be an upgrade to Andre Miller because even though Miller's experience helps, the fact that he can't hit the three consistently really makes it tough for him to play with Brandon Roy.

Since Chris Paul is reportedly very open to getting traded to a winner, the Trail Blazers might be one of the best situations for him to land in.

They have a young roster with a top-10 player in the league. Brandon Roy is certainly a top-10 talent in this league and LaMarcus Aldridge would be a very good third option on a championship team.

They also have a couple of lockdown defenders in Nicholas Batum and the recently acquired Wesley Matthews.

They have enough length to compete with the Los Angeles Lakers in Greg Oden, Marcus Camby, and Joel Przybilla.

The only thing missing on their quest for a championship is a good point guard. Andre Miller is very good but his poor shooting limits his effectiveness off the ball.

The Trail Blazers have a great chance right now to set up their team for deep playoff runs every year if they can get Chris Paul in a trade with New Orleans.

The Trail Blazers can put together a great package and still keep their core players on the roster. They would probably have to take a bad contract from New Orleans while acquiring Chris Paul, but I'd say it's worth it.

They just have to use their depth now to upgrade their point guard position. Even if they don't get Chris Paul, I'm hoping they make a full court press for someone like Devin Harris. He's a great point guard and will be happy to be in Portland as the defense of the opposition won't be concentrating on him like in New Jersey.

He could really be helpful in helping the Trail Blazers get a championship.

The depth on the Blazers roster is quite remarkable. They could get rid of Andre Miller, Jerryd Bayless, Luke Babbitt, Joel Przybilla, Rudy Fernandez, and Elliot Williams in a trade for Chris Paul or Devin Harris and still have a great rotation.

The rotation of the Trail Blazers if they pull off this great deal would be this

PG : Chris Paul or Devin Harris / Patrick Mills / Armon Johnson

SG : Brandon Roy / Wesley Matthews

SF : Nicholas Batum / Dante Cunningham / Wesley Matthews

PF : LaMarcus Aldridge / Marcus Camby / Jeff Pendergraph

C : Greg Oden / Marcus Camby

That looks like a championship team if I've ever seen one!

The risk in getting rid of the depth in the roster would be that we wouldn't be able to pull off the remarkable feat we did last year: Lose 311 games to injury and end up with a 50-win season!

But hey, lightning doesn't strike in the same place twice right?
