NBA Free Agent Rumors: Penny Hardaway Wants to Get Back in Miami
39 years old and with an injury plaque career it looks like Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway’s basketball days are over. He was the dominant point guard the NBA has produced but never live up to expectations.
Now Penny is trying to resurrect what he started and failed to finish years ago hoping to get back on teams that still needs his services. He wants to be part of the big three in Miami he wants to help and guide them. He knows he still has it. He works out four times a week and plays ball almost every day. He knows he still has hops on his legs and he believes he still can match up with the young guns in the NBA.
But it has been like that for Penny after getting back with his injuries. He was cut twice by the Knicks and played on tryouts but never made it to the roster. He was signed by the Heat but was cut in favor of Luke Jackson who was also cut weeks after. Penny wanted to be back but he was never been back he was only a shell of his former self.
He never like the way his basketball career ended. There are still enough gas left in him but he never had the chance to prove it. But the Heat had to do what they have to do. There are still fresher legs waiting to be sign and releasing Hardaway can give them versatility rather than risking on Penny… 2007 was Penny’s last game. That was 3 years ago and now he wants another shot… another run and with the big three opening up possibilities for him. He wants another chance for redemption a chance to end his career on a perfect note with a championship ring around his fingers. The part where every fairy tales ended “and he lives happily ever after”…
Penny’s injured knees are healed now but with scars left to remind him of that part that he once have.
For once he made his point; he was NBA’s best point guard on his generation and he doesn’t need to get back to prove anything. I savor the memory of Penny throwing alleyoop pass to Shaq or with Penny’s long stride going to the basket… Let’s just keep it that way.
