How LeBron Let Everyone Down

CyberCosmiXJul 9, 2010

Last night's ESPN 'The Decision' show wasn't just an announcement. This was LeBron crying out, shouting out 'I'm Waving The White Flag and Getting The Hell Out of Town because I Can't Win Taking the Big Shots, I Can't Stand The Pressure, and I'm Not Clutch Enough To Be the Top Banana, Primary Star on a Team.'

Pathetic. Truly pathetic. LeBron, you gave up in last years Eastern Conference Finals. Game 5 of this years series vs the Celtics was appallingly disturbing as you basically did nothing but listlessly watch your favored Cavaliers fall in defeat, just days after receiving your MVP award, and now with this announcement you are basically telling the world you don't have what it takes to win, you need someone else to take the big shots and you are a Robin to someone else's (Wade's) Batman.

You've actually make me feel bad/sad for Cleveland. My god, I can't believe it, I really feel for them. You let them down LeBron. Oh, had you simply, quietly announced your intentions, it wouldn't be as bad. But to do it this way??? You literally stood up, stared them down then coldly spit right in their face. In the most classless, selfish manner.

This is how you treat the people in the city you grew up in? These are your people, LeBron. You couldn't even respect them enough to make a quiet, non-flashy, low key announcement? Must you rub it in their faces in such a public manner, almost in a mocking way?

This is a team that has done EVERYTHING they could to put you in a position to lead them, but you always wanted to be a supporting actor, not the lead. Dan Gilbert has spent whatever it took - in a fairly small market - to surround you with the talent you needed to succeed. Enough talent to gain the NBA's best record for the past two seasons. Enough talent to allow you to gain MVP awards - regular season MVP's - the past two seasons. They go out and bring in the monster contract of Shaq, bring in Jamison mid-year to give you more help, that even brought Big-Z back to pad the roster even more.

You had it all, but just couldn't bare it. THAT is why you gave up in game 5 against the Celtics. THAT is why you are leaving to Miami. THAT is why so many people are disappointed - you have basically wrapped yourself in a phony persona since you came into the league, and only now do we see it was all a sham.

Don't you see that this truly isn't about winning? You have always gone by 'King' James - a nickname you obviously approve of with your twitter account being called that - and amongst other things have stated that you 'spoil' us with your play, your marketing campaign states that we are 'Witnesses' to your greatness, that we are not worthy.

What exactly did we witness last night? You selling out? You not taking the challenge on to make the Cavaliers a title winner? You essentially going to Dwyane Wade's team to fill in as a complimentary role-player? Basically, you are admitting you couldn't get it done, either you are incapable or unwilling to take on the task to lead your team to a title.

Sad. Pathetic. Ungraceful. Egotistical. Insulting. Disgraceful. These all come to mind. It's more than that though, it's like finding out that the Wizard of Oz is really a small, little man. We've seen that the REAL LeBron is just that, a small, phony, egotist pulling strings on the otherworldly body and athletic ability you possess, but lacking in the stuff that the all-time greats have. The Jordan's. The Russell's. The Magic's. Even, the Kobe's.

That is the worst feeling, that you have created a fake persona and fooled us all with your athleticism. You have the body of Adonis, but the heart of a quitter. We could accept that though if you don't try to fool us. At this point you are no king, possibly never will be. You are closer to a disgrace.

You are the captain that abandoned ship on the first lifeboat off, pushing women and children out of the way. You are the firefighter driving by the burning building and waiting for it to burn to the ground. You are the commander bailing on his troops in a battle. It's only athletics, but you've opened yourself up to this by the way you've handled all of this.

Maybe this is what you get for surrounding yourself with sycophants like Maverick Carter and William 'World Wide Wes' Wesley. Never expected this backlash, did you LeBron? A king needs his court, no? In a king's court, those around tell the king whatever he wishes to hear. Fact is, I would bet dear ol' Maverick Carter must have liked South Beach, are you honestly naive enough to let someone else control you like puppet master? If so, then this will perfectly show how you are not a 1A character, a leader. You are a follower and cannot lead. This we now see clearly.

What we've all witnessed is a small, disgraceful, deceitful, egotistical sell out, and I'm sure no one felt any differently after watching that unbelievably selfish display. It's not a shame to be weak-hearted, but please don't try to portray yourself as anything but what you are.

We've all got a glimpse into the 'real' you LeBron - and no one likes what they saw...
