Breaking News: Carlos Boozer Will Sign With the Chicago Bulls

Bob EvansJul 7, 2010

Don't worry Chicago Bulls fans, you won't be left out in the cold.

ESPN is reporting that Carlos Boozer has agreed to a five year $80 million dollar deal to become the new starting power forward in Chicago.

After missing out on Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, as well as the uncertainty surrounding where LeBron James will end up, it seems that the Bulls had to act quickly to secure one of the top available free agents in this market.

Carlos Boozer fills an area of need for the Chicago Bulls, and it will allow Joakim Noah to move over to his more natural position of center.

Boozer will give the Bulls a powerful, dynamic front court scorer and a solid rebounding presence down low.

The signing of Boozer could signal the beginning of free agency for the Chicago Bulls, and it just may entice LeBron James to head to the windy city to join forces with Boozer and Derrick Rose.

Even if the Bulls miss out on LeBron, they will have a solid core of Rose, Boozer and Noah to lure any of the remaining free agents. They might be able to lure a guy like Ray Allen to play shooting guard for them.

Having to settle for Boozer alone is obviously a disappointment for the Chicago Bulls after believing they were major players for one of the "Big Three" in this free agent class, but this deal could be a lot better come tomorrow night at 9 p.m.

Stay tuned Bulls fans, you could have a 6'9" 270 pound small forward coming your way come tomorrow evening.
