NBA Free Agency, What in the World Is Going On?
More than 4 days into free agency the general thought for most NBA fans has to be “What in the world is going on”. We have seen the Knicks pretty much lock up Amare, while the Hawks paid max money to Joe Johnson so he can guide them to another second round exit. Other than that, we have seen some “Iguessyoucouldcallit” questionable free agent signings. Drew Gooden and Darko Milicic have signed contracts that pay them more than Tom Brady. Did he just compare basketball player salaries to football? Yeah, and while I know that is not fair because salary between the two varies much, you have to wonder how in the world this happens.
The big story heading into this NBA free agency is still well, everything but a big story. Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh were the three most talked about players this off season, and the fact that no decision has been made by either one of them is keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The fact that Wade has came out and talked about his family playing a big role in his decision is not new news people. If Wade leaves it’s not going to be because of his family, it will be because the Bulls put together a much better team around Wade than the HEAT tried to do.
When it comes to LeBron James, does anybody really have a clue? People say the Nets are the favorites, and then they say it’s down to Chicago and Cleveland, but now that Amare is on the Knicks they say New York is in the race. What about Miami too? I’m sure if Wade resigns and/or Bosh comes, these “sources” will say Miami is the front runner. How much speculation is too much?
I have to admit it’s nice to see so much attention being placed on basketball since it is my favorite sport, but when this is over (and if he HEAT come out successful) it will be a lot less straining on the mind!
