“Don't Count Him Out; Remember How Strong a Cuban Can Be!” NBA
“Don’t count him out; remember how strong a Cuban can be!”
I look around at all these teams in the NBA with cap space and frankly none of them seem to worry me. As an avid HEAT fan the only team that I think is on the same level as Miami is Chicago, and that is because of the fact that they have one of the best upcoming point guards in Derrick Rose. They also have a solid young competitive center in Noah. If a marque free agent were to go to any other team other than these two I would have to ask myself why? I know there are teams like New Jersey and LA (Clippers) who have solid cores, but can you really put your trust into those organizations?
There is one team though, that after pondering the idea, frankly scares the crap out of me. How much cap space do they have? Roughly none! In fact they are over the cap by almost 10 million when you count all players on the roster. Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks are in the mix of free agency just as much as any other team this year. When you have an owner like Mr. Cuban who will spend at will and do whatever it takes to put together the best team possible, you can never count them out. This is why sources say that the Mavericks are one of the teams that LeBron James might visit during his free agency. This is also why Dwayne Wade might have already scheduled a precautionary visit to Dallas in the upcoming days. How can Dallas acquire these players if they have no money to spend?
Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks will pursue every avenue possible when trying to lure big name free agents, including sign and trades. The Mavericks are loaded with valuable assets that can benefit many teams. One of these assets includes second year upcoming point guard Roddy Beaubois who is under a very manageable contract. Dallas also has Dampier who is owed 13 million in his last year, but his contract is non-guaranteed which can be a very attractive piece to another team looking for cap space. Caron Butler is another intriguing player who is in the last year of his 10 million contract.
Again, this article is not to say that Dallas has a great change at landing LeBron or Wade, yet rather its merely pointing out that Mark Cuban is a very dangerous man!
