NBA Free Agency Rumors: Hitting the LeBron James-Wade-Bosh Trifecta in Miami
LeBron James, a soon to be free agent come Thursday at 12 a.m., could be forming a juggernaut in South Beach if he decides to sign with the Heat. Assuming Riley is able to re-sign Dwayne Wade, there are also whispers that Chris Bosh will be the third star to join these All-Stars.
Talk about hitting the lottery.
In fact, yesterday Stephen A. Smith went on the record reporting that James and Bosh will join Wade in Miami. Not maybe or could, but as a matter of fact.
Now those are some strong words, especially with all the teams out there that are going after the services of Wade, Bosh, and James.
On paper this could actually happen, however, because Miami has continually cut cap space over the last year.
The latest was trading Daquan Cook and the 18th pick to the Thunder for the 32nd pick. Strictly for this exact scenario that the Heat want to come away from free agency as lottery winners.
The only two players currently under contract with the Heat are Mario Chalmers and Michael Beasley. Not to forget that Beasley has not lived up to his hype coming out of Kansas State, and his name has been on the trading block for the last few weeks now.
The most achievable way of signing Bosh would have to be a sign-and-trade with the Raptors involving Beasley. If that doesn't happen then Pat Riley won't have enough cap space to offer all three stars max contracts.
Sources say that the Big Three did meet up in South Florida over the weekend to discuss the upcoming free agency. There are no reports that they struck a deal to play in Miami, but there are whispers.
In the ever-changing world of the National Basketball Association this could have no impact whatsoever come next week if another team offers up something else. Just a few days ago reports had LeBron as a "Lock" to the Bulls.
I think it would take a lot for the Nets or Knicks to actually get James signed and in their uniform next season. Those teams don't have enough pieces to the puzzle to win an NBA Title. Sorry Knicks, drafting Andy Rautins and Landry Fields isn't going to get the job done.
If you're LeBron and you want to win championships now, why not team up with Wade and Bosh? How fun would it be to watch that team playing night in and night out. It would definitely pose a tough challenge to their opponents.
This scenario could happen. I'm not saying it will happen, but if everything plays out the way it is starting to line up there's no reason these three players aren't playing on the same team next season.
Good luck trying to stop that team.
In the sports world of 2010 nothing is guaranteed until it is signed, sealed, and delivered. Free agency hasn't officially begun, and the rumors will continue to run rampant. It's the nature of the beast, considering this is the most highly anticipated free agency in any sport ever.
When the dust clears and everything is settled, there are going to be winners and losers. One things for sure is that Miami fans want to see the three-headed monster of Wade, James, and Bosh.
Miami Heat won an NBA Title in 2006 and would be the automatic favorites if these superstars joined forces to co-exist in the Florida sunshine.
Get ready, the race will begin when the clock strikes midnight Thursday, July 1st, 2010.
