Why Lebron James and Chris Bosh to Chicago Is NOT a Done Deal
It seems every media outlet or source out there believes the Chicago Bulls are going to acquire both Lebron James and Chris Bosh, especially with the great trade that they were able to pull off on draft night.
Let's discuss some of the reasons why this won't happen.
First, the NBA will void any deal if the Bulls and these two players had negotiations before July 1st. This "done deal" would be highly questioned.
Second, it is known that Derrick Rose and Lebron James both need the ball to be effective and neither is a great shooter or great player off the ball in terms of offense (a la Ray Allen).
Third, the Bulls are still a couple of million short in terms of offering two max free agent contracts, and neither Bosh or Lebron James will take a pay cut.
But, let's assume all these reasons are somehow solved. Still, the main reason this deal won't happen is because of Chris Bosh.
Chris Bosh and the Toronto raptors have made it clear that it is in the best interest for both he and the team to get involved with a sign-and-trade (Bosh would get the extra year and Toronto would get some talent in return).
The Bulls don't have anything to offer to the Raptors unless they are willing to deal Noah (which they certainly will not do). Therefore, people assuming this is a "done deal' need to question whether both players would do this.
I think the reason why the New York Knicks are potentially the only team that has the ability to acquire both players is because they can use David lee in a sign-and-trade deal (who would Miami be able to offer? Beasley? Yeah i didn't thinks so).
The Raptors don't want anything to do with Deng (he doesn't fit with what they need and his contract extends for three more years).
Now if the Bulls are willing to trade Noah to Toronto then this can be considered a "done deal." The question is whether or not either player (Lebron or Bosh) would want to come to Chicago if that was the case.
I guess this deal isn't as "done" as people think, and only time will tell!
July 1st is only three more days way...
