Los Angeles Lakers: The Case For Nate Robinson

Alexander LJun 26, 2010

Nate Robinson was supposed to be the kryptonite to the Los Angeles Lakers and help the Celtics win a championship.  We all know how the story ends and "Kriptonate" now finds himself without a job.  The Celtics seem reluctant to bring him back even though they are already set to lose Rasheed Wallace and at least on of their big three either Pierce or Allen.  The Lakers, who are in the need of a PG/SG combo guard, could use this 5-9 guard who has the ability to facilitate like a point guard and the ability to jump like, well, Shannon Brown.  Nate could be (if the Lakers sign him) a deciding factor as he brings energy off the bench that would help the Lakers get over the hump when their offense starts to become stale and stagnate.  We saw this multiple times last post season as Nate won a game not only against Orlando Magic but the Lakers as well.  If it is three point shooting that your worried about, well, Robinson has that too as he knocked down a couple of clutch threes to keep his Celtics alive in game seven as they were crashing down towards defeat against the Lakers.  Robinson does not need a Kobe to get his shots he has the rare ability to make his own shots as well as shots for others.  His contract would not even have to be one that is lucrative as Nate would be happy to switch uniforms to have a chance to play for the defending champs who have a sure chance of winning the championship next season: which is exactly where the Celtics are not going.

I even shudder to think of the havoc that Nate and Lamar would create against opposing defenses as their athletic ability and skill would allow them to lead the bench against opposing teams while the starters got their rest.  The Lakers should be sure to pick up Nate Robinson to fix their troubles that are coming with the loss of Shannon Brown and Jordan Farmar.  Even though his name is "Kryptonate" he is sure to have a remedy for the Los Angeles Lakers.
