LeBron James is Going To the Chicago Bulls
LeBron James is going to be a member of the Chicago Bulls.
In all likelihood, Chris Bosh will join him.
It makes too much sense not to happen. LeBron wants to win. He wants to make sure he goes to a team where he will be the undisputed franchise player. He will have as much talent around him as possible. He wants to play for a big market so that his iconic status will continue to grow.
While it would be nice of him to stay in Cleveland, he surely has looked at guys like Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady when factoring his final decision.
KG even told LeBron how lucky he was to get traded to the Celts and play for a winner after all the years he spent being loyal to Minnesota and sticking with them til the bitter end. The glory it gave KG was winning a ring. One has to wonder, especially considering how broken down KG looked in the Finals just a week ago, how many rings he would've won if he hadn't been so loyal.
LeBron will not join Wade in Miami. Neither is willing to play Pippen to the other's Jordan.
There are the Nets and the Knicks, but Chicago just raised the price of poker by getting the cap room to sign LeBron and another player to play alongside Rose and Noah.
The only reason LeBron would not go to Chicago is to avoid living in Jordan's shadow. But consider that we are talking about a player who has worn jersey No. 23 his entire career, before conveniently making a switch to No. 6 next season.
I'm sure LeBron wishes he could stay true to Cleveland. That he could give back to the fans after all they have given to him. However, he will ultimately make this decision based on the talent he has around him to win championships for years to come.
Unfortunately for Cleveland, they don't have any money. Their trading pieces aren't that great either.
LeBron is going to be a Bull come next season.
Other Predictions: Much Less Substantiated
I also predict Bosh will join LeBron in Chicago. While I would love for him to go to Miami and join Wade, playing on a team with LeBron, Rose, and Noah has to be incredibly appealing to Bosh. Plus, he and LeBron share the same agent.
The only other place I could see him going is LA in a sign and trade for Andrew Bynum and player X. That is only assuming Bosh and Toronto demand a sign and trade to whatever team he goes to.
I think Miami re-signs Wade and gets Amar'e Stoudemire and either Rudy Gay or Joe Johnson.
I know Miami will make a big push for Bosh. Assuming they fail, they will use the allure of South Beach and the comfort of playing with Wade to convince Amar'e to come.
Finally, I assume Miami will be desperate enough to give Amar'e a max deal. I don't believe he will get that from Phoenix as Sarver is only slightly cheaper than Donald Sterling these days.
As for New York and New Jersey, I think their big acquisitions will revolve around Carlos Boozer and either Rudy Gay or Joe Johnson, as well as the rest of the remaining free agent class.
The basis for my predictions is the theme of this free agency is a by-product of what the Finals showcased last week. Two teams. Multiple top 20 players on each.
Let's face it. In this league, you now need a cluster of great players to be a championship contender. It's why the Lakers have been in the Finals for the last three years, and why Boston has been in it two out of the last three (because KG got injured last year).
What can I say- times are a-changing.
And I dare anyone who reads this article to make a credible argument why I'm wrong about any of my predictions, especially the Lebron one.
