2010 NBA Draft Results: Chicago Bulls Er Washington Wizards Draft Kevin Seraphin
The Chicago Bulls, or according to sources, the Washington Wizards selected Kevin Seraphin with the 17th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft Thursday night. Now we just have to wait until July 8 to find out which team he'll actually be playing for. Seraphin is a big question mark, but has tremendous potential. The real reason he has such a large question mark though is that he injured his knee a couple of months ago while playing overseas. It was such a question that Seraphin almost thought of dropping out of the draft if his position in the draft would change too drastically. Well, for him, it seems like it worked out pretty well. He was projected as a mid-first rounder before his injury, but many analysts had him projected as a second-rounder immediately after. To add to the reoccurring theme throughout this year's draft, Seraphin is a mass of potential. He has a very unpolished offensive game but has great size (6'9", 263 lbs.) and athleticism. He'll be more comfortable in the paint in the NBA, which means that ideally he'll have to grow another inch or so. However, he's very aggressive around the rim and has great explosion in his legs (barring any effects from his injury). He's also a very hard worker and has really added some good muscle to his frame over the last couple of years. He may opt to stay in France for another year or two, but should be able to be a serviceable player in the NBA. Of course his recent injury is of obvious concern, but it doesn't seem that either the Bulls or the Wizards seem to worried about rushing him. He averaged 6.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in just over 15 minutes a game this past season with the top ProA team in France, Cholet. Still, his numbers can't speak of his huge upside. His wingspan (7'3") along with his athleticism should make him into a pretty good low-post defender, but much like his offense, that will have to develop in order to make him an NBA force. So whether or not it's actually the Bulls pick, they'll have to claim Kevin Seraphin as their own, for now.
