Nuggets Moving Into Draft? Why Chauncey Billups Is Out After Tonight
When all was said and done at the end, the Nuggets and Chauncey Billups looked terrible at the end of the year. Despite that magical 2008 run, the Nuggets are 1st round losers 6 of the last 7, which could mean rebuilding time in Denver, especially since Ty Lawson looked like the 2nd best rookie PG last year.
The Indiana Pacers are willing to offer a lot for a veteran point guard to pair with Danny Granger and Brandon Rush, and Billups is a target. I believe Billups SHOULD be moved for Indiana's 3 picks and C Jeff Foster. Why? Because then the Nuggets get their rookie Big Man. Also, it sets up huge cap space to bring in Chris Bosh to Denver to pair with Nene. I believe the pick will be a guy who can play some 2 and 3, so at 10 the Nuggets would take Jordan Crawford. Getting Foster doesn't make big man a huge issue. Then in the second round, the Nuggets will take backup PG Grevis Vazquez and PF Luke Harangody.
So when the summer is over, it may be better to look like this is you're Denver:
PG Ty Lawson
SG Arron Afflalo
SF Carmelo Anthony
PF Chris Bosh
C Nene
BENCH
G JR Smith
F Luke Harangody
G Grevis Vazquez
C Jeff Foster
That just seems better to me. By the way, Billups to Pacers is a rumor and Kenyon Martin would have terminated in order to get Bosh. It just seems better to me, but Chauncey fans I know will hit this up.
