Inside the War Room: Answering Questions on 2010 NBA Draft Night

The NBA Draft will be held Thursday night and the future of many NBA teams will start to take shape. Young players will be drafted and some will be left as NBA teams try to find the winning formula to make their franchise a winner on draft night.

Brobury Sports recently released the sports betting props for the 2010 NBA draft night. I set out to answer some of the questions and find some of the best prop bets on the board. See a list of all the prop bets for draft night here.

Draft night is always unpredictable, so with that in mind here are some of the prop bets available for NBA draft night and my predictions for draft night.

Question: 2010 NBA Draft - Gordon Hayward – Will He Be a Lottery Pick (Picked 1st to 14th)?

Gordon is a smart player that is riding his success as a tournament sweetheart. He can find a shot from anywhere on the court and will hustle on every play. I have him projected out as going 15th or later which makes this close but with these odds I will say he is picked after the 14th pick of the draft. Some folks project him in the top ten but not me.

Answer: Gordon Hayward will not be a lottery pick (No +175)

Question: 2010 NBA Draft – What Player Will Be Drafted First? Damion James (-180) or Solomon Alabi (+130)

Mock drafts have these players going all over the board and that kind of uncertainty is what makes this question one of the hardest. James is getting looks from several teams and I really think the Timberwolves will pick him as early as 16th because they know if they let him go, the Boston Celtics or someone else could gobble him quickly. Alabi is a big man with raw talent that needs work and I see him going to the Spurs later in the draft. (The Celtics also are taking a hard look at Alabi.)

Answer: Damion Jones will be drafted before Solomon Alabi (Damion James -180)

Question: 2010 NBA Draft – How Many Total Kentucky Players Drafted in the Lottery (Picked 1st to 14th)?

Over 2.5-250. Taking the over is not a lock here but you have to like your chances considering that John Wall is a lock at the number one overall pick. Most of the mock drafts have DeMarcus Cousins going as early as fifth so the third player will be the mystery. I have Patrick Patterson going as early as No. 11 in this draft and with that I like the over for this prop bet.

Answer: Over 2.5 Kentucky players will be drafted in the first round (Over 2.5 -250)

Question: 2010 NBA Draft – Total Big East Players drafted in the 1st Round Over or Under 4.5

The Big East is arguably the most talented conference in all of college basketball but I am predicting that at least five players will not go in the first round from the Big East. Wesley Johnson of Syracuse and Greg Monroe of Georgetown will go off the board early and I can also add Devin Ebanks out of West Virginia to the middle of the first round but after that it could get close. Lance Stephenson out of Cincinnati and Dominique Jones out of South Florida are possibilities but they would both have to be picked to have this go over the 4.5. I am sticking with the under.

Answer: Fewer than 4.5 players from the Big East will be picked in the first round (Under 4.5 -250)

Question: 2010 NBA Draft – Evan Turner – will he play his first NBA Regular Season Game for 76ers -300 any other team +200

This might be a reach but I am going to say the 76ers pass on Evan Turner. The 76ers already have Andre Iguodala and the fact of the matter is that they need a lot more pieces than just one player in Philadelphia. They have plenty of leverage and if they can find a suitor for the No. 2 pick they can trade this pick away and get more picks to help build for the future.

Answer: Evan Turner will play his first NBA game with any other team than the 76ers (any other team +200)

We will have to wait to draft night to see if these answers are right, but one thing is for sure with the talent in this draft and that is anything can happen!
