NBA Free Agents 2010: Why Chicago Is The Best Destination For Amar'e Stoudemire
This is going to be the first of a series of articles that I am going to do involving the free agents of the summer. I am going to go through all of the big names and some of the minor ones and figure out where is the best destination for them.
It should be a well known fact that I am a Phoenix Suns fan. The biggest news involving Phoenix right now is the Amar'e Stoudemire situation. This is the year Amar'e can [ finally] leave the Suns. Although he keeps on saying that he wants to stay in Phoenix, the fact is, Phoenix does not want him to stay.
The Suns have been trying to deal Amar'e for the last few seasons and made an especially strong push this year before the All-Star Break. The fact is, they should have traded him, they just waited until it was too late.
Other teams could sense that they were desperate and were not willing to give them a good deal, thus Amar'e stayed with Phoenix and made it to the Western Conference Finals.
Now since Amar'e is leaving, the common question is: where should he go? Well the answer is simple: Chicago Bulls.
Amar'e led the NBA last season in Points in the Paint and was 7th in total points scored.
As it stands right now, the Bulls find themselves without a major scoring threat that teams have to worry about and thus they don't find too many open threes which is the key to success like the Phoenix Suns and the Orlando Magic proved.
They also don't really have any good Power Forwards on their team and the guys they do have in that position are young and still very raw with much to learn about the game of basketball.
Amar'e would provide them with the points and his point total will probably elevate because as I mentioned earlier, Chicago does not have any scoring threats on their team.
He will also join All-Star Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah and give the Bulls a better chance at making the playoffs and improving their seeding. Since Amar'e is also a pretty solid rebounder, he will take at least some load of Noah and not make him grab every since board.
I also look for the Bulls to release many of their current players and try to sign another player preferably at the shooting guard position. With their new squad, the Bulls should become a strong force in the East and the fact that Amar'e will now find himself with the numbers and the touches he always wanted, he will shut his mouth and play.
The Bulls should finish with 40-46 wins in the easy Eastern Conference and Amar'e should average around 26-28 points per game.
