2010 NBA Finals: Which Ray Allen Will Show Up for Game 5?

Jonathan GarrJun 11, 2010

Ray Allen is often considered one of the greatest shooters of all-time.  He is a great shooter when he is on, but he has also shown that he is very inconsistent.  He must have an evil twin because there are some nights when he is on and some nights when he doesn't look like himself.

He had a huge game 2 when he broke an NBA finals record by nailing 8 threes and he looked incredible.  Then he followed that up with one of the worst shooting performances I have ever seen.  Going 0-13 on the biggest stage you can be on in basketball.

He has not been very effective since game two.  Really he has not been effective at all if you look at his stats without the first half of game two.

Allow me to show you what i mean.

First half of Game two

27 points

Total Shooting % 9/14 64.2%

3-Point Shooting % 7/8 87.5%

Rest Of the Series (including second half of game two)

31 Points

That is terrible.  I can’t believe that the best shooter of all-time can have such a terrible percentage of shooting.  I keep hearing he needs a rhythm and he has defenders in his face and my response to that is so what.

If he is the best shooter of all-time, he needs to start acting like it.  Your team needs you now and in a big way.

Will he be able to step up?  Will his bizarro arrive or will the Real Ray Allen show up? If I’m a Boston Fan, I am definitely hoping for the latter.
