Carmelo Anthony May Sign Extension, Stay Off Free Agent Market in 2011

Shaun AhmadJun 7, 2010

Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony was at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for Game Two of the NBA Finals last night.

The rumor was, LeBron James would join him and the two would sit together courtside adjacent to the Lakers bench.  Supposedly, James cancelled because he had something "important" to get to.

But since Anthony was in attendance, he took the time to answer some questions about his future; pleasing Nuggets fans while killing the dreams I have of him signing with the Wizards in 2011.

"We'll see what happens," said Anthony, whose contract is up after the 2010-11 season. "I think my agent (Leon Rose) is going to talk to them in a week or so. And if there's something on the table, then we'll go to the table and see what's the best situation for me."

When asked of the state of the Nuggets, he responded, "We have pieces," adding he would like to add "one or two more pieces that'll work out."

Well that's a breath of fresh air now isn't it?  A potential free agent not whoring himself out in anticipation of his contract expiring.  I'm looking at you LeBron, Bosh and Wade.
