NBA Playoffs: Can Boston Close Out Orlando in Game 6?
As you all know, the Boston Celtics are facing potentially the worst playoff collapse in NBA. Coming into Game 6 on Friday, the C's have now dropped two in a row to the, appeared to be dead, Orlando Magic. I have all confidence in that Boston will win this series. There's no way they will lose four games in a row, but will they close it out at home in Game 6?
Well, I sure hope so. But, they need to adjust quite a few things.
First off, Rajon Rondo needs to step it up defensively. He played terrific defense in the first three games as he shut down Magic star point guard, Jameer Nelson. Now, Nelson is in rhythm and dishing the ball left and right, and on top of that, knocking down some devastating three's.
In my opinion, Rondo needs to be a bit more ball aggressive against Nelson. He needs to cut his penetration to the lane and force him to dish the ball into Dwight Howard. The biggest key to Orlando's success in the past two games has been Nelson's ability to penetrate the lane and dish the ball out to Orlando's three-point shooters. Rondo needs to stop the penetration.
That's pretty much the only adjustment I can think of that Boston can do defensively to stop Orlando. Other than that, Kendrick Perkins has been playing great D against Superman, Dwight Howard. But, Perkins needs to watch his fouls, because Glen, Big Baby, Davis is concussed.
Big Baby not being able to play in game six is going to be a huge loss. And on top of that, Rasheed Wallace tweaked his back in game five. Boston appears to be thin at the center position, so KG needs to kick it up a notch some more, and 'Sheed needs to suck it up the best he can.
Look Boston fans, the Celtics will win this series. I have all my faith on this team. If the C's come out Friday playing suffocating defense, then there is no chance Orlando will come back.
In a way, Orlando has "screwed" themselves in this series. In Game 3, they rolled over like dogs. After losing two home games against Boston and falling down 0-2, it appeared that Orlando just rolled over and gave up in game three. If they hadn't, then who knows where this series will be right now. But Boston's will has over-powered them in the first three games of this series.
If Boston wants to win, they need to out will the Magic.
My prediction: Celtics win. No doubt. And if they don't, they will win in Game 7. This team is too experienced and too focused to lose four games in a row to an overrated squad, aka the Orlando Magic.
