A Bosh For Luol Deng Trade?

Dave AllenMay 23, 2010

How about trading Bosh to the Bulls for LUOL DENG?

The Bulls are on Chris Bosh's supposed list and have been sorely lacking in a Power Forward though Taj Gibson had a decent Rookie Season. They also have in Rose the type of backcourt play that Bosh craves. Though we might fancy Noah, I could the Bulls initially offering the likes of Hinrich and Gibson as alternatives. Personally I would like to see us get a legitimate star player in return as well as a solid citizen and a leader. For me this is Luol Deng.

In terms of salaries they match up, and we get a Small Forward who is a Team Captain and would have no problems at all playing in Toronto. It gives us a legitimate SF who really wants to up his game to be the leader of the GB Olympic Team in 2012. At worst we could also ask for a future R1 pick as the Bulls have an extra one from the trade of Thomas to the Bobcats.

Turkoglu was poor at SF last year, so maybe we should look at him on the Power Forward side or at least as a Point Forward.

We have No13 available in the draft and we could easily look to draft a PF like Ed Davis or Daniel Orton though I hope DONATAS MONTIEJUNAS falls to us, as I think the draft will show when reviewed in the future that he deserved to be a Top3 pick. Playing at Benetton Treviso, the Lithuanian would also find it easy to settle in Toronto alongside our Italians.

Alternatively we could look to trade Calderon or hopefully Jack for some Power Forward help, or one of the numerous Free Agents coming out for PF help especially if they have decent defensive qualities.

If we do trade a PG, I'd like us to jump in R2 for the young Russian, Alexey Shved, who is hugely underrated.
