LeBron James, Will He Stay Or Will He Go?

Kelsey GivensMay 22, 2010

Everyone is asking one question in the NBA, what will LeBron James do this summer as a free agent? Will he stay loyal to Cleveland, or will he jump ship and move onto a bigger and better team such as Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles?

On July 1 negotiation begins between teams and free agents in the NBA, and starting July 8 players can sign with new teams. On July 8, the world will know what the King’s decision will be.

James is a native of the Cleveland area and was picked up by the Cavaliers in the second round of the 2003 NBA draft. By staying with the Cavaliers, James would remain loyal to the first team that introduced him to the NBA. By staying with the Cavaliers, James would remain loyal to his fans and the fans of the Cavaliers.

However, even after six seasons with the Cavaliers, it may be time for James to move on. In his time with the Cavaliers, the team has made it far in the playoffs several times, but has never won. Could this because they simply do not have enough talent to support James, or could it because the team hasn’t played together long enough to have the chemistry needed to go far in the playoffs?

Even after the Cavaliers brought in experienced NBA veterans, the team still couldn’t move past the second round of the playoffs.

What ever James decides, there will be those who are happy with his decision and those who are disappointed with his decision. If he leaves Cleveland, Cavaliers fans may turn on him, and if he stays hopeful fans of other teams may be disappointed in not seeing James join the roster of their favorite team.

For now, James hasn’t publicly announced his decision. The world will have to wait until July to know what the fate of Lebron James will be in the NBA.
