Boston Vs. L.A.: Finals Blowout

Isaiah MontoyaMay 19, 2010

By Isaiah Montoya

If L.A. actually beats Phoenix, because the Suns suck so bad they can 't stop any Laker, then we will see an absolute demolition of the Lakers by the Celtics. This is what usually happens, and with these two teams I'd give Boston a 4 games to 1 edge.

The first time the Celtics met, and beat, the Lakers it was a sweep in 1959. Minneapolis was the Lakers' home back then. They didn't know how to decode the Celtic defense led by Russell.

After moving to L.A., the two teams met again in the 1962 Finals, and Boston won 4 games to 3.

In 1963 the Lakers again lost to the Celtics, 4 games to 2.

It happened again in 1965, when the Celtics beat L.A. 4 games to 1, in 1966 they beat the Lakers in the Finals 4 games to 3. In 1968 the Lakers lost again to Boston, 2 games to 4.

In 1969 Jerry West named Finals MVP, and the Lakers still lost, three games to four.

In 1984, Bird, McHale and Parish beat magic, Worthy and Kareem 4 games to 3.

In 1985 the Lakers finally beat Boston 4 games to 2, and they did the same in as many games in 1987.

In 2008 the Celtics killed L.A. and they would do it again in 2010, except I know the Suns will win the series.
