Kobe Bryant: PRACTICE?...You Talkin 'Bout PRACTICE?
"PRACTICE? You talkin...?" No wait...That was Allen Iverson who once posed that now infamous question. Kobe Bryant COULD have made said query following his "one-mamba" destruction of the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
"The Black Mamba" coiled and struck for 40 big ones after not practicing the entire week that the Lakers had off since sweeping the Jazz.
Of course, pre-game, the talking heads of sports media...with not much else to yap about except how LeBron proved again that he is not MJ and where he may or may not sit on the toilet next season...stupidly drew a predictive negative correlation between a week of non-practice and how Kobe would perform.
Perhaps though, I'm being a bit too hard on the media (Uhhh...No I'm not). The reason Kobe didn't practice was due to a knee problem...a potential big issue for humans. Why did they think that a 30-points-plus/game-for-the previous-5-games "alien" who's not been slowed by a broken finger on his shooting hand and a myriad of other injuries would be bothered by a knee problem?
