2010 NBA Playoffs: For the Phoenix Suns, It's NBA Title or Bust

Sachin AroraMay 18, 2010

The Phoenix Suns are down 1-0 in the best-of-seven Western Conference final to the Los Angeles Lakers, and they will have to improve quite a bit in order for them to win this series.

The Lakers are perhaps the most stacked team in the league, but there have been times where they have looked beatable.

This is probably the last chance the Suns will get at a title in a while. And I'm not saying that to be a downer, but face it, Phoenix point guard and leader Steve Nash isn't getting any younger. Meanwhile, Amar'e Stoudemire could be on his way out, and the Suns will have to start rebuilding sooner or later.

For the Suns to win this series, they will have to start off by doing a better job guarding Lakers star Kobe Bryant. Another thing they need to improve is their rebounding. They were dominated on the boards by the Lakers Monday night, and were exposed defensively.

The Lakers played at the Suns' pace, a high-scoring game, but they beat them at their own game.

So what's happening, Phoenix?

Channing Frye was absolutely awful, even though he's one of the best three-point shooters in the game. Still, he couldn't deliver in Game One.

There were other problems offensively, but the Suns still put up 107 points. They just gave up 128, and that's a problem.

If the Suns want to win this series, defense will be the key. This is their last chance. Let's see what they can do.
