Message To LeBron: Stay in Cleveland

Bill RobbinsMay 16, 2010

Lebron James has been one of the best players, and to some the best player in the NBA since his arrival in 2003. He has effortlessly torched defense after defense and his athleticism has been through the roof on his way to getting award after award and statistically,  having one of the best starts to a career ever for any player.

However, there is one thing that King James hasn't been able to accomplish.

That one thing is a championship.

He has had many chances with his Cavaliers in the past few years, he has yet to get the ultimate prize that every NBA player wants to claim.

Many think that since Lebron's contract is up, he should and will sign with another team in the league.

The long rumor that has been going around for awhile has been that Lebron would sign with the New York Knicks.

Before James even thinks about signing with another team, he needs to consider what he still has in Cleveland, and this a team that is practically knocking on the door of a potential NBA title.

After all, Lebron James is the hometown kid who was drafted by Cleveland and has decided to stick it out with the Cavs this long already. He's stayed with them this long, he might as well tough it out with them and at least continue to bring the city what it ultimately wants, a championship.

Plus, LBJ has become an idol to many in the city of Cleveland, and also in the state of Ohio. If he jumps ship now, many could remember him for that and it will forever sour his reputation with his hometown state forever.

Sure, the thought of others teams is always appealing when you haven't been getting it done year after year with your current team, but it would also be an easy cop-out as well, and it would really show that Lebron doesn't have much faith in his club anymore.

The problem for a guy like James is that he could potentially be running into the same problem with another franchise of not getting the job done, and he could also have less talent with his future team.

Now Lebron is a great player and a great athlete, but a decision like this could decide his future for many years to come. If he makes the wrong choice, and never accomplishes his goal, he could go down as possibly the greatest NBA player ever to not win a title. And not only that, but he could also haunt him for years.

Cleveland needs you Lebron, so choose wisely.
