If Knicks Are Serious About Contention? Fire D'Antoni!

Isaac FerminMay 14, 2010

Alright all this talk about Lebron going to New York got me thinking about something. How? How can the Knicks with the sorry excuse of a team they have, get Lebron? Well one way is to sign another big player. But looking at the situation who could be the guy? It depends on the coach. If D'Antoni stays it will have to be Amare Stoudemire. If not you get Chris Bosh. Both great players of course. But Bosh is a better player. Why? Because yes Bosh is known to be a bit soft on both ends. My problem with Bosh is his offence. Why do I say that since he averages 20.2 points for his career? His offence is soft. Plain and simple. Why? The guy is 6'10'' but he takes too many jump shots for my liking. He doesn't spend that much time in the post as he should. For his career he has .492% from the field. Could be much higher if it wasn't for him taking too many jump shots. But the guy does put a lot of effort into his defence. But he's still soft in there and still isn't the greatest defender. But Bosh fits in much better in a half court set then Stoudemire.

Anyway I'm getting way too distracted from the real subject here. The Knicks will come into this summer trying to finally find the pieces to winning a championship by getting 2 free agents from this talented free agent class. But I think no matter what. LeBron will not go to the Knicks as long as Mike D'Antoni is coach. Let's get real here. Mike D'Antoni is not an NBA coach and he will never win a championship. When he left Phoenix, and Porter took over. The team was better off. But the players did not cooperate. Remember that at the time the players were whining about D'Antoni leaving. And these players say they care about winning but show no cooperation to their current coach? No. If they were serious they would've given Porter a chance and he wouldn't be fired. But even so, Alvin Gentry took over and brought back that horrrid style. But Alvin Gentry actually tries to be a coach and actually made an effort of bringing some defence. Gentry is a better coach and I think he accomplished more in one season than D'Antoni did his whole tenure in Phoenix. He actually improved his players. Something D'Antoni does the opposite of. Mike D'Antoni is a cancer of a coach. He actually makes his players overall worse. I remember one interview D'Antoni had. They asked him about defence and how he manages it. He said that it's not his problem. Really? A coach should know that you have to play defence in order to win. Fine that you have a style. But to straight up say that it isn't your problem to teach or even practice defence is a shame. Why do people want him as your coach? I remember a while back that someone wrote an article here that Mike D'Antoni could become the Laker's next coach. And I thought. Oh No. I do not want this guy as my team's coach and I don't want him becoming the ultimate cancer for the team. He would make the Lakers into a first round and out team. The Knicks will win nothing with D'Antoni no matter who they have in their roster. But this guy gets work only because his style is so fun and exciting. What's so fun and exciting by being trounced in the playoffs every year? What's so exciting about seeing a half-ass effort from your players? What's so fun from seeing them make terrible rotation decisions from a coach who can't make at least one defensive play? Real knicks fans deserve a better team and a better coach. Larry Brown shouldn't of been fired because the guy actually slapped his players when they made bad mistakes. He knows about winning. I hear from real Knicks fans that they want a team and a coach who's gritty, defensive, and who put effort. Mike D'Antoni does not offer that. The next best thing to getting LeBron is firing Mike D'Antoni. I'm not a Knicks fan. But I so want this guy fired for the good of Basketball integrity.
