Celtics Look To End King James' and the Cavaliers Season Tonight

Daniel DinunzioMay 13, 2010

It's now or never for Lebron James and what could potentially be his last game as a Cleveland Cavalier.  He played brillantly throughout the regular season leading the Cavs to the best record in the NBA.

What a shame that such an accomplishment means absolutely nothing if the Cavs fail to come back from this 3-2 deficit they face heading into Game 6 in Boston tonight.  Lebron James has to come out and dominate from the start or else his team could be in for a tough night.

This Celtics team is finally healthy and playing like a team that wants to win another NBA Title.  There have been various points in this season where this team left a perplexed look of confusion and frustration on the face of celtics fans.

Right now there are a whole lot of smiles, but don't be fooled the Celtics still need to go out and win one more game, before anybody can start thinking about the Eastern Conference Finals.

What I saw out of Lebron James on Tuesday night was one of his worst performances of his career in a game he had to perform in.  He let down his teammates, fans, and owners but that will all be forgiven if they win tonight and then at home on Sunday.

Kevin Garnett put it best when he said the Celtics have to approach tonight's game as if it is their game seven.  Going back to Cleveland swings the momentum entirely and I don't see the Celtics winning a third road game at the Q Arena in one of the toughest places to play in the NBA.

The Celtics have momentum after the 32 point blowout of the Cav's on the road and they can't stop now.  Boston can't afford to have a hiccup like they did in game three when Lebron scored 21 in the first quarter.  If that happens tonight, it is going to be difficult for them to win.

Rajon Rondo needs to continue to excel at what he does best.  Getting the ball upcourt in transition and finding the open player around the rim.  He's capable of leading this team and running the offense successfully.

A spark that Boston could use once again in game six is the hot shooting of guard Ray Allen.  When Allen is making shots from three it adds a different dimension when it comes to defending the Celtics.

The veterans Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett have been in this position before.  Pierce found his jumpshot last game and he isn't afraid to take the ball to the rim.  Garnett continues to make the mid-range jumper and grab rebounds on both ends of the court.

When Garnett and Pierce are playing on the same page they are tough to stop.  Both players play tremendous defense and cause turnovers that result in easy fastbreak points.

The bench has played a vital role for Celtics in this series.  Rasheed Wallace has come in and showed glimspes of the old Rasheed that we saw in Portland and Detroit.

Big Baby Davis continues to evolve into a solid young contributor.  His size and frame is a problem for defenders.  He doesn't hesitate to battle on the boards or step outside and hit the fifteen foot shot.

Quite possibly the biggest lift off the bench has come from the other guy named Allen.  Tony Allen has picked up his defensive intensity and continues to score on the offensive end.  His double-digit points tallied in multiple games has been a huge boost to his team.  When he drives and slashes the lane he is a different player.

Lebron James couild come out and have a historical night in Boston.  The pressure is high for both teams.  The Cavs need to win tonight to stay alive, and Boston needs to win in order to avoid a game seven back in Cleveland.

When push comes to shove something has got to give.  Lebron James has had a unbelievable season, one that resulted in a back-to-back Most Valuable Player Award.  That's nice to have, but fans remember the Legends of the NBA by how many championship rings you won.

It is do or die tonight and no matter the outcome there's going to be a lot of talk about the winners and losers come tomorrow.

Boston has to got to close it out on their home floor.  The possibility of going back to Cleveland on Sunday is a task that they want no part of.

The Celtics advance in a thriller, Boston 99 Cleveland 97.
