Memo To LeBron James: Game Six is Not About You!

Brian DiTullioMay 13, 2010

LeBron James is, without question, the greatest player to ever wear a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform.

However, like every other great player to ever play for any team in Cleveland since 1964, he appears headed for the offseason prematurely.

James's Game Five performance was nothing short of embarrassing, and his postgame reaction to questions about his play were appalling.

He said he "had a bad game."

A bad game is if you go 3-30 from the field instead of the couple of half-hearted attempts at shooting James actually went through with on the court Tuesday night.

James can say the fans have been "spoiled" by his consistently great play, but the fact is, with the exception of Game Three, James hasn't been anything special in the Celtics series.

While the rest of the team can shoulder a lot of the blame for poor play, especially the disappearance of Mo Williams, James is the leader of the team, and wandering around the court while playing a very passive game are not the qualities of a team leader.

It's "win or go home" tonight for the Cavs, and it's time for James to realize he can't have a bad game in the playoffs.

Michael Jordan did not have a night like Game Five in his playoff run. Jordan would not sit back and be this passive while his team was losing.

Kobe Bryant fights every game to the bitter end.

It wasn't that James had a bad game, it was the appearance of not really caring that he was having one of the worst games of his career.

I've had to watch the Indians melt down against a Boston team in the last few years. I've watched the Browns lose to the Broncos three times. I even was around for Red Right 88.

I've seen a lot of bad playoff losses in Cleveland, no matter the sport, and if the Cavs lose tonight, it better not be because the King had another "bad game."

Tonight is about the team coming together and not letting the Celtics beat them. If James remembers that, the team will win.
