Celtics Take A 3-2 Lead

Tristan SatherMay 12, 2010

The Celtics have shocked the world going up 3-2, they had more composure and controlled the tempo in every game they have won. The Celtics won by playing fundamental basketball, they scored by cutting to the hoop and with offensive rebounds. Ray Allen zoned in on his three ball, knocking down 6 threes.

The Cavaliers looked as if they might pull away when they were up 29-21 and then, BANG, the Celtics make a 15-0 run. They did it by playing team ball and getting stops. Antawn Jamison didn't have an impact throughout the game shooting 4 from 10, the Cavs have so much depth you tend to forget he is the number 2 option.

Jamison played only 31 minutes and has averaged only 13 points throughout the series. Delonte West who has played magnificent this season only played 9 minutes in game 5, the Cavs are so deep it leads to people playing inconsistently. The Cavs weren't really in the ball game in the 2nd half.

Kevin Garnett played a solid game, he is starting to hit his fadeaway and play with some passion. Garnett shot 8 from 14 and blocked 2 shots. The Celtics annihilated the Cavs due to their balanced scoring of 6 people in double figures. Tony Allen has done the little things throughout the series such as determination on the offensive glass and finishing strong at the hoop.

The MVP Lebron James struggled in the biggest game of the season, he shot 3 from 14 and didn't play with any energy. As Charles Barkley said on Inside the NBA, "I am 100 percent disappointed... Not the fact that he didn't have a good game, clearly didn't have a good game, but his mentality... Like, I go back, I played against Micheal Jordan, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing. Listen, their gun was going to be empty by the end of the game and i did not see that tonight. Clearly, it happened in game 2 but tonight, in the biggest game of the season, this was clearly the biggest game of the season, i did not see the aggressive that i needed from an MVP at all."

Having said that Lebron, in his press conference, didn't admit that he had a bad game. He just said, "I was making plays by getting assists and rebounds." He never looked dangerous when he had the ball, which is rare to see. He couldn't hit a shot. Lebron hasn't really played a bad game so far throughout the playoffs, but tonight, the biggest game of the season, he struggled terribly and he didn't play with a bounce in his step like he normally does.
