A Nick Saban Erection; Why Now? Wait Until He Retires For Pete's Sake!

Mal Moore has announced that a statue of coach Nick Saban will be erected in honor of the recent national championship.

The question is, "Why now?"

It's not the first erection on the "Walk of Champions" and certainly won't be the last.

A statue of Saban erected on the "Walk of Champions" at this point in time would simply be a distraction. Coach Saban preaches day in and day out about avoiding distractions. Why in the world would Mal Moore put the biggest distraction to future success right in front of the coach every given Saturday.

I am surprised that Saban hasn't protested. He should insist that Moore wait until he retires. What happens if he wins another National Championship? Is there going to be another erection? In my mind, that is a doubtful proposition but what if it turns out to be the case?

What if Saban has an affair, gets involved in a recruiting scandal, or bites off a player's ear during spring practice and has to be fired? Is Mal going to fire someone with a bronze statue erection right in front of the stadium.

Look, I'm the biggest Nick Saban fan in the Alabama fan base. Not only do I eat the Little Debbie cookies at 6:30 every morning so that I can be in sync with Nicky, but we wear the same underwear, have wives with the same hair style, and our children are the same age.

Having said all this, Saban's erection can wait. I'm not ready to see that!

Put it on ice until he is retired on Lake Burton with his cane pole line extended into the cool water with live bait. An erection at that point in time would be more purposeful and appropriate. Then Terri and Nick can sit in side by side bathtubs outdoors and enjoy their time together, watching the erection in the privacy of their own vineyard.
